Anders pulled his feathered coat more closely against his form as the ruthless wind ripped up the Wounded Coast. The cold made him hiss as he stalked down the jagged rocky path, for once apart from Hawke and the rest of his followers. The rouge had returned to The Deep Roads after some foolhardy explorers, and Anders had chosen to hang back, this ( Read more... )

If it were possible to shout and cause a fuss, Squall would certainly be kicking up quite the ruckus. However, his previous outbursts, both vocal and physical, rewarded him with chains around his wrists and a rather awful-tasting bit of cloth stuffed in his mouth ( ... )

Anders first spotted a trio of cowering mages near to the farthest reach of the cavern. They were scared, too much so to put up much of a fight, and Anders had seen it enough to be surprised by thier easy compliance. He was about to move to them, when a very strange sight caught his attention ( ... )

As Squall continued to fight against his bonds, he caught movement somewhere in the shadows. Quickly glancing in that direction, he saw the figure of a man move towards his cage, signal to remain silent, and proceed to remove the lock. Having been a soldier most of his life, and been captured and imprisoned more than once, Squall knew to obey the signal. That didn't mean he trusted his would-be savoir. Squall didn't even trust his own allies.

The attempt at pleasantries was completely lost on Squall, as he stared intensely at the newcomer. He said nothing, only nodding once slowly; to indicate that he had no intentions of running away. His eyes mechanically searched around the area, trying to find some indication of where his gunblade might be.

Not turning to face Anders, he growled low in his throat, "I need my blade."

The young mage had quite the intense stare; Anders was used to weathering long hard looks of disapproval and even straight hatred, so Squall's stare hardly phased him. Another flash of magic and breath of heat at Squall's wrists and the cuffs came off. Anders caught them before they could clank loudly on the floor.

A pale brow rose at the stranger's request. He'd never considered that a mage would request the use of a sword... It confirmed his suspicions that this was the "special" one he'd been informed about. Anders clamped his teeth on his bottom lip and glanced towards the outside of the cage.

"I spotted some chests towards the back. Most likely, anything they took from you would be there," he said lowly, carefully placing down the chains. "Are you at all gifted with stealth?"

Though magic was not unfamiliar to Squall, having lived in a far more advanced society than the one he was currently in, the manner in which this guy used it was strange to him. Though, he had more important things on his mind than that, he had some violent interrogations to conduct, after all ( ... )

Anders would have preferred to create more of a plan than, well, no plan at all. "Guess we're doing it your way," he muttered, rolling his eyes for the benefit of only himself as he crept towards the mouth of the cage, as well. With Squall moving off in the direction of the chests, Anders made for the trio of cowering mages in the corner ( ... )

Squall spotted the chests that the other man spoke of after a moment, and silently, but quickly headed toward them. As far as he was concerned, his dealings with the stranger Anders concluded after he directed Squall to where his gunblade might be ( ... )

[ooc: *just... just stares at the sexy* Now I have to counter with this, which has nothing to do with fighting, but is also sexy~]

Anders had never before witnessed such a fighting style; the combination of magic and fighting prowess that Squall wielded was something uncommon to Anders' world, and he could not help but spend a moment marveling. Squall was... something to behold; both powerful and ruthless.

But there was a fight going on, and Anders doubted if standing around starring was the best of ideas. The commotion allowed him room to slip in front of the cowering captives, while flinging another fireball into the fray of swarming thugs. One of them wheeled away from Squall and went to Anders, who promptly brought up the blade on the end of his staff, slicing the man ruthlessly across the chest. He crumpled at Anders' feet.

"You're--" amazing somehow felt inappropriate, "--rather good this!" he called to Squall with a grin.

((ooc: Whoa... THAT is a man-kiss XDD. Clearly they got a lot more intense in the second game with the kissing. Such as the moaning >P *eyebrow wiggle*))Though Squall managed to gain a nice surprise attack, the thugs were quick to assess the danger and began to take the fight more seriously. He managed to gain most of the attention of the thugs, allowing for Anders to continue with his rescue mission. He took the second fireball as another distraction, and cut down a few more thugs as they tried to avoid the blast. However, Squall was having some trouble keeping up with so many targets at once, not to mention he was still recovering from the first encounter. A few thugs got in some blunt hits and a couple of blades manged to give him a few nasty cuts, but Squall kept them from making any life-threatening hits ( ... )
