Anders first spotted a trio of cowering mages near to the farthest reach of the cavern. They were scared, too much so to put up much of a fight, and Anders had seen it enough to be surprised by thier easy compliance. He was about to move to them, when a very strange sight caught his attention.

One of them was quite severely bound up. He had a fierce look about him that had Anders guessing that he was not like the others one little bit. He looked to be a better ally then the poor souls cowering in the corner, too... Anders was wary of approaching them to suddenly anyway; it was simply stupid to startle a cornered mage.

So he made his way through the shadows, creeping through puddles of dark and shifting blind-spots. Luckily, the cage in which Squall was bound was a little out of the way, and no one was watching it; Anders supposed they assumed the young mage could be no more trouble.

When he came into sight, he motioned for Squall to remain quiet. A quick flash of magic melted the lock before Anders pushed the door open just enough to slip inside. He moved low to the ground as he approached Squall, trying to show kindness in his tired eyes.

"You must have put up quite the fuss," Anders whispered, reaching forward to gingerly remove the cloth from Squall's mouth. "We'll save the whole 'being impressed' bit until after we're out of this mess, hm?" he gave a watery smile. "When I remove your bindings, do you think you could help me fight?"

And no, Anders noticed nothing about how handsome the young mage was, or how good he looked in chains.
