Jack commissioned me to write an opening song for our show called "Naughty Schoolgirl." I wrote the chords and melody, and the next evening at practice Jack and I figured out some funny lyrics. I was trying to create something "jauntily mocking." My voice is ever so slowly improving!

I am surprised at how well I'm surviving, considering I still feel like an alien in a strange land. During the day I spend a few hours chugging out cover letter & resume after cover letter & resume. So, I finally did it. I moved to California.

I flew into Oakland Saturday night. Leaving my mom and Nikki at the airport was the hardest thing I've ever done. We're still going to get Nikki out here eventually - for now it's talking on Skype webcam.

It shall be my first decoration piece at my new Oakland apt.

Arg, this has been THE most difficult week to get through. I'm flying out of the midwest for good this Saturday, 7/11 - my mom thinks it's a lucky date. I wish that we could have done the move as a road trip. So, what a crazy wonderful weekend! Margaret and ET took the bus up from Chicago and stayed the weekend with us. The party ended up being at Nottingham Coop, which was great because the park just wouldn't have worked -especially because of the rain. So I had the most awesome evening last night and don't even know why. I think it's because all my stress/anxiety just disappeared for an evening. I went to Nikki's parents' place for dinner.
