ALL OF THIS RIGHT NOW. And although I feel "bad" for what certain characters are going through at the moment (mostly Marie, if I'm honest because she deserved precisely none of this) I am TOTALLY with you on the fact that I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't want any particular character to win out over any other. In some ways I just want there to be an epic gun fight and for everyone to go out in a blaze of glory ( ... )

And although I feel "bad" for what certain characters are going through at the moment See, I categorically don't. Like, I know, intellectually, that feeling bad for Marie at this point is the Right Thing To Do, and I know it'd be the correct (non-sociopathic) answer to the question, "How do you feel for Marie at the moment?", but if I said it, I'd be lying.

I've completely disconnected my CAPSLOCKFLAIL level feelings for the SHOW from my feelings for the characters as individual, fully realised PEOPLE in their own right. In fact, I don't HAVE feelings for the characters as individual, fully realised people in their own right.

This has never happened to me before. And I can't really put my finger on why it has happened now, at least, not beyond the fact that the story behind BrBa is basically flaw-free in my opinion!! I've been thinking about Walt vs Frank Underwood for example. I know I've metaed about Walt before, but, thinking back, my Walt opinions have always been about the story first and foremost. Like, I have never ( ... )

Although, I should say, I have no freakin' idea what that is. LOL. ME EITHER! Haha!!! I think that's the beauty though. We don't NEED an idea. Vince will give it to us in about sixteen hours. No effort required!

eta: I'm not personally invested in any of the characters, but I'm invested in the story. OH LOL. Perhaps I should have just lead with this line? Yes? And, like, DELETED THE OTHER 14898! *facepalm*

Hopefully not my posts and comments...*hides* Oh, god no. Your posts have been beacons! Haha! I'm totally talking about the tumblr stuff like, "Skyler is a bitch and deserves to be shot in the head."

You know the stuff I mean!

Though, when it comes to helping form my epiphany, your posts on tumblr (I saw those QAs) were definitely helpful because, how do I put this? Um, I trust you? I trust your opinions and your thoughts and your analyses? And that they were/are SO DIFFERENT (on paper) to mine, when our degree of love for the show itself is so freaking similar, is what got me thinking in the first place. DOES THIS MAKE SENSE?

I definitely do care about the characters and I care in ways that are completely illogical, This is me and every other show I've ever watched!! Haha! So yeah, I definitely hear you on this!! And completely understand. My struggle with this has ~always been more that I couldn't understand my OWN perspective. Your perspective and the perspective of most of the other people I know that love this show and are ( ... )

Yes, it makes sense. And honestly I think your perspective is less weird than mine because you aren't losing sight of the fact that you are watching a story. Which is what I do when I start irrationally caring about the characters. Like the other day I found myself researching what forms of care & therapy services there are for victims of torture and hostage ordeals. Because, like, I need to know these things to make myself feel better when I'm hoping Jesse still survives. And like whyyyy do I even care?? Even if Jesse survives the last episode he still ceases to exist the moment the credits role. But I have to remind myself of this. That's what's wrong with me.

Enjoy the last episode! We must have a group hug / BrBa addicts support group post on the LJ comm sometime tomorrow.

but I love all of the characters and care for them all deeply. A totally understandable position. And the position I've been in for 99% of my viewing life (see: Grey's Anatomy for a prime example!!). But just, not this time (for me). I love all of the characters and I care about the way they've been written deeply. But I don't (emotionally) care about what has happened to them. At least, not on any level that isn't related to the overall narrative ( ... )

You know that I agree with every. single. sentiment you've expressed here. It is Literature for the small screen. It is a triumph of symbolic and metaphorical magic realism. I can't imagine we'll see something similar for a long time. I'm dreading the bad copies.

I think I'll have to be internet free tomorrow to avoid spoiling myself until I can watch the finale. *sobs*
