I don't know that I've ever felt this... Well.. I can't describe how I feel.

Maybe just... I feel like this is really, really, really important. Signing this lease is the closest thing Patrick and I will likely ever come to signing any sort of "I Am Committed To You" paperwork, short of buying a house.

Its a big damn deal. My relationship with Spydrman lasted 17 years (which still boggles my mind) longer than most ofthe marriages around us, yet we were never married and our biggest joint commitment was getting a cat together.

Marriage does not make a relationship work. People working together is what makes a relationship work. No marriage required.

I used to tell people "I am just not the marrying kind" when they would ask me about getting married.

Yeah, we have two cats. Mine and his, so we are a blended family ;) Fëanor has known Patrick for most of his life, though, and has deeply bonded with him... so to be honest, he is sort of "Our Cat" at this point. Our extended family includes Vex (my Jetta, for those just tuning in) and a Suzuki SV-650 (Patrick's motorcycle). Vex and the SV seem to get along fine ;)

"I'm not the marrying type" is exactly what I tell people. Or, since Patrick is in law, if I'm feeling flippant I'll say "Oh please. Would YOU want to divorce an attorney?"
