[ACTION - A (In and Around Goldberg Street, Morning, OPEN TO ALL)]

[Well, it could definitely be a lot worse.]

[At first, upon seeing the giant ants, crabs, and praying mantises popping up everwhere, Balin tries to defend Goldberg Street the best he can; he's not the type to take chances, especially with how unpredictably dangerous Mayfield's " ( Read more... )

As nice as that'd be, not a chance. Last year was, let's see... personality-changin' candy around Halloween, crazy turkeys on Thanksgivin', then screwed-up gifts on Christmas.

Oh. [And the unspoken word that comes with that: "Damn."]

The candy doesn't sound all'at bad, but uh-lemme guess, with all'a Fifties B-movie sendups they're doin'is year, them turkeys musta been some kinda recreation of'at Alfred Hitchcock movie, yeah? "The Birds?"

[The limp form of a girl can be seen clutched in a pincer of a rather large crab skittering by. She might look unconscious at first, but closer inspection can reveal that she's actually awake, just not really bothering. She doesn't notice anyone though.]

An' another one ... Hang on-!

[Balin draws his Colt .45 without hesitation, glancing at the girl for a moment to verify that she's awake, before firing several shots into the joints of the crab in order to disable or sever the limb that's got a hold of Aurica.]

[Did someone say 'rain of swords and spears'? Because I think someone did. Any ant swarm that is popping up is currently being impaled with great justice.]

Having fun?

[This is the first time Balin's ever seen Gate of Babylon in action. Or the fruits of it, at least. In fact, the first thing he does his dive to the ground, thinking that it's somehow a Ranger's Fire Support Logos Ability going off. We all know it's so much more deadlier than that!]

Holy FUCK!

[After the dust settles, Balin uneasily stands up, slack-jawed at seeing all these ornate weapons sticking out of the ground. It takes him a few moments before he realizes Gilgamesh is there and asked him a question.]

I uh-

[Treasure this moment, Gilgamesh. Balin is at a total loss for words.]

[Gilagmesh replies with a smile and a happy wave!]

You what?

[Regaining composure now. Managing a small, if dumbfounded, grin.]

Thanks for'a close air support-?

[The finest close air support!]

-Guess who's helping. And not just with guns alone.-

Let's go, Fengalon! "Inspire"!

-One of the crabmen that had been blocking her bullets gets a nice bolt of lightning for his trouble.-

[The lightning comes as a bit of a shock to Balin-no pun intended. This is the first time he's seen Virginia use powers like this!]

-Yeah, that-that's pretty inspirin', ahright!

[Still standing on top of his own giant enemy crab, Balin unloads two more rounds on another giant at that just burst out of the ground.]

That's the Arcana I was telling you about before. The power of the Guardians.

So you pretty much called down'a thunder on 'em with'at.

[Glancing over Virginia's handiwork as he starts reloading his shotgun.]

Fried his ass pretty good, too.

[It's difficult to ignore the sounds of their front lawn being turned into a battlefield, so once the actual gunfire seems to have died down, Caesar will open the door and peer out.

Oh.

Monsters.]

Having fun up there?

[Turning back to look over to Caesar. No, he doesn't want to get off his new pedestal.]

It'd be a lot more fun if'ey'd stop fuckin' up'a lawn.

For as aggressive as'ese bastards seem, they ain't been puttin' much effort into actually getting me.

[Maybe he should go get the camera. They could start a 'weird crap that ends up on our lawn' scrapbook.]

They probably aren't. The past few days have all been ridiculous, but not deadly. I don't see why today would be any different.

Yeah, guess you're right-

[He's kneeling down to inspect the wounds his shotgun made in the giant enemy crab, poking at it with a finger.]

[He frowns, troubled.]

... I never was a fan of seafood back on Earth, but ... somethin's off here.
