Brigit's Flame Week 2 - Destiny

o/` "Is it written in the stars
Are we paying for some crime
Is that all that we are good for
Just a stretch of mortal time

"Is this God's experiment
In which we have no say
In which we're given paradise
But only for a day" o/`

Glad you liked it. I don't talk much about what happened that night, but I did feel the story needed told.

I loved the way you wove the words, I loved the spirituality in all this, and I loved the characters and how much of the whole world of your creation you put in this. Thank you for sharing.

Also, I love your LJ layout, it's beautiful. :D

You're quite welcome! Because of Dee's real profession, a lot of what happens has to be fictionalized which is sometimes a challenge but, a few details aside, the essence of the story is true. I'm often called for cases like these where the person either cannot or will not go to a real doctor. (The term treateur is a Cajun French terms for those practitioners). There's usually one in attendance but that wasn't possible because of Dee's profession (we did later call who he works for and have them take a look as well as appraise them of the situation).

I looked a long time in order to find a suitable layout; this one seems to fit both my steampunkish ideals and the Old West attachments. Glad you like it!

How interesting! As a nurse, I find this intriguing, particularly at how what these spiritual treateurs (my vocabulary escapes me at the moment) actually work. :)

Ahh, I'll have to look into something similar because it's along the lines of how I would like my LJ and website to look.

There's a community called ljlayouts which has many to choose from, and I've found that visiting the individual creators' journals and sites yielded still more. They're not hard to install, especially since the community leaves instructions for doing so.

I have a background in medical training (I was a certified nurse's assistant and I've had some nursing courses as well as growing up with a medic father in the military...my stitches are still better than some fourth year med students'...I had the opportunity to impress them with that when I was in hospital last year) but I've supplemented it with the local remedies and with scientifically based herbal research (what the plant actually does, what part does it, and why it works on which conditions). The only metaphysical part of it is being able to sense how the patient feels and being able to read those energies (think of it as looking kind of like a PET scan, that's what I see when I'm looking and it works on about the same principle).

I am not myself a treateur as I am not Cajun and was ( ... )

Felt like I was drawn in to enjoy a strange ride. The language was very intimate, and sort of mystical, and connected to the Earth and everything. It was hard not to get captivated. The art of healing, and its prices. Very powerful. I love how you capture the characters' relationships and how they felt towards each other. Their connection is undeniable. I enjoyed reading this very much. Lovely work.

I am pleased you enjoyed reading this. I had to call it fictionalized reality because, while the people are real and so are some of the circumstances, other elements are not. I did that because Dee's job is rather high security and they would frown on some of the details being released in a public forum.

I love my misguided angel very much. We got off to a completely wrong start but now I don't know what I would do without him.

Wow! This is very well done and well told. The fact that it is truth makes it even more interesting to me. I think I'd like to talk to you offline about some things. Good luck!

Fell free to e-mail me or drop a message through LJ. I'll do my best to answer questions but do realize that the reason this had to be fictionalized was because some elements of Dee's job and the circumstances surrounding this incident are high security.

Some major details of the incident were fictionalized or overemphasized (such as the religious/spiritual work) but the people involved are real. My beloved's job is high security and there are some things I just can't share with the public. Thank you for reading!
