The long walk made Gunter miss Yuuri more and more. He was trying his best to keep his spirits up but he was really worried. If anything were to happen to Yuuri, Gunter wouldn't be able to live with himself. It was his duty to advice AND protect the king. And suddenly, Riff stopped and turned towards him, and took off running.

"Ah! Riff! Wait up! Ri~~~ff!"

Gunter chased Riff to the restaurant and asked as they entered, "Who's Miss Merryweather?"

Riff was only vaguely aware that Gunter had asked a question as he flung open the door to the restaurant with one fluid motion and rushed inside. He first spotted a boy, whom he didn’t recognize, then a woman with long dark hair who looked remarkably like … who was certainly his master’s fiancée, Miss Rotterdale, and lastly …

“M-Miss Merry.” He choked out before slowly walking over to the young girl and kneeling down in front of her. “It really is you.”
She was here. She was safe. It was almost too good to be true.
His left hand shakily smoothed down her hair while his eyes scanned her frantically for injuries, tears in her clothing, any little thing that might be amiss.

Merry had spun around as the door opened and Riff entered, walking almost too slowly. It fortunatly gave her time to react. Her face, seeming rather bored in all actuality, lit up brilliantly, as if touched by sunshine.

Riff crouched down in front of her, and his hand touched her hair as he began doting on her.

It was perhaps uncivilized, but her brother was not here. She launched himself at him, wrapping her arms around him tightly. "Riff. Ohh Riff! Where have you been? We've been so worried!!" she exclaimed, hugging him tightly.

"Are you well? You haven't caught a chill from the weather, have you?" She asked, small hand touching the side of his face. "My brother will be cross with you, if you're unable to perform in your duties due to negligence..."

Her face softened and she hugged him again. "We missed you. Brother particularly so..."

He was startled at first, as he was still trying to take in the fact that he had found her, but the sudden affection was well received, and though he wouldn’t admit it, needed. Riff wrapped his arms around the tiny girl and closed his eyes. “I’ve been looking for you and Cain… I missed you both immensely.” He sighed, a soft smile on his lips. He hadn’t realized that his lack of formalities when addressing them just then, but he did realize that Merry was speaking of Cain as if he weren’t around. He had honestly expected Cain to be nearby. Around the corner, perhaps. He wouldn’t have left his precious sister alone in a place like this, would he?
Then his voice took on a more serious tone. “Master Cain isn’t here? Where is he? Is he safe? He hasn’t been injured has he? Has he been fed properly?” Riff questioned.

Riff watched the others interactions as they became acquainted. Gunter was from a different ’world’ and a different time, but certainly had all the manners of a gentleman; and from what he could tell Otogi was quite well mannered himself. He came to the conclusion that the group would get along well

Merry nodded her head feeling a little bit relieved. Riff wouldn't lie to her. They had an understanding. When her brother was being stupid--which happened more than she liked to consider--he was the one she turned to to talk sense into him. Although at times it backfired and Riff merely became an accomplice in her brother's whims. But, regardless, with him around, things were for the better.

"...you've heard nothing from him, Riff?" Emmeline asked, concerned. After all, she had thought their first action would be to find each other. That Riff did not know where Cain was, or if he was safe, was a completely alien concept. He looked terribly worried, though. She sighed. Everything was still such a mess.
