Riff watched the others interactions as they became acquainted. Gunter was from a different ’world’ and a different time, but certainly had all the manners of a gentleman; and from what he could tell Otogi was quite well mannered himself. He came to the conclusion that the group would get along well ( ... )

Merry nodded her head feeling a little bit relieved. Riff wouldn't lie to her. They had an understanding. When her brother was being stupid--which happened more than she liked to consider--he was the one she turned to to talk sense into him. Although at times it backfired and Riff merely became an accomplice in her brother's whims. But, regardless, with him around, things were for the better.

ooc:sorry. merry's got nothing atm XD

"...you've heard nothing from him, Riff?" Emmeline asked, concerned. After all, she had thought their first action would be to find each other. That Riff did not know where Cain was, or if he was safe, was a completely alien concept. He looked terribly worried, though. She sighed. Everything was still such a mess.

Günter was growing increasingly sullen. He had been selfish - thinking only of Yuuri while he and Riff were searching for those important to Riff. It finally hit him that Riff without this Cain fellow, was like he was without Yuuri. He hadn't once asked about Cain, but would ramble on and on about Yuuri and Shin Makoku. True, he was a proud Mazoku, but he was feeling tremendously guilty for his behavior.

Softly, he said, "I'm terribly sorry Riff. I sincerely apologize for everything..." His voice trailed off as small beads of tears began to appear in the corners of his eyes.

“I have not heard from him, no, not since I arrived in this world.” Riff said solemnly. “I’ve been looking for him since I woke up, and I wasn’t even certain if he was here or not until I found you all ( ... )

"I've been a terrible companion. I didn't realize how important Cain was to you. And I've caused you much concern and damage to your garments. I have been horribly selfish. Please forgive me." Günter dropped to one knee and brought his hand across his chest as he bowed.

His smile faltered for a moment a the mention of Cain, but he recovered quickly, “You haven’t, really. Please there is no need for all of this.” Riff said, attempting to reason with the guilt-stricken man.

He had never once thought of Gunter as selfish. He was actually grateful for the company while traveling. And quite honestly, if Gunter hadn’t been with him unintentionally forcing him to pace himself, then Riff would have run himself ragged searching for Cain within the first few days and would have never found Merry, Miss Emmeline, or their friend Otogi.

He looked to the others for assistance, as he wasn’t quite sure how to deal Gunter‘s outburst.

Emmeline bit her lip, unsure of herself. She was, after all, out of her element. It rather surprised her that Riff didn't know how to deal with it, though - she had often thought him capable of anything. However, she was not exactly pleased at the moment.

"...Mr. von Christ, please. You do Riff a disservice by assuming he would consider you such," she said, just as sweetly as before, but now her haughty veneer was back in place.

Günter took Miss Rotterdale's words rather personally. It made him feel even worse about himself that he may have actually insulted Riff, which was far from any intention he had. A dark gloom came over his face until Otogi began to speak. He was absolutely right. He'd seen great concern and kindness from Yuuri-Heika towards everyone. Günter himself had become more caring towards those that he used to detest. Standing, he wiped his eyes of the tears that were starting to form, and for a moment, thought about apologizing to everyone. But he was sure that was the last words they wanted to hear from his lips.

Instead, he gently offered, "My deepest gratitude," as thanks to the group.

Riff smiled and put a hand on his shoulder, giving a slight nod to Emmeline and Otogi for their help in the matter.
Under normal circumstances he might have been able to handle it on his own, but his worry for Cain was effecting him, and he really hadn’t any idea how to help the situation when Gunter had let his guilt get to him.
However now that he had returned to his normal countenance Riff decided that it suited the man much better than apologies and tears.

[[ooc: Rofl. That was crap. Forgive me.]]

Merry had been watching the adults and had seated herself at one of the chairs, tracing patterns on the table while they talked about ridiculous things.

"Must we continue this nonensese?" She asked finally, looking up.

"Riff should go look for my brother, that's quite clear. That leaves Mr. Otogi and Mr. Von Christ to take me and Miss Emmeline skating. Really. And you call yourselves adults."

Though Riff very badly wanted to continue his search for Cain he was hesitant to leave Merry and Miss Emmeline, not we he had so recently reunited with them, and Merry’s suggestion that they should part ways didn’t sit quite right with him. However, he did agree with Otogi’s comment that they shouldn’t just be sitting around. Going skating, despite it’s frivolity would be better than standing around and concentrating on their worries.
