{sigh}
i've said it before....the next time someone talks shit about boulder to me, i'm going to punch them in the face.
since i decided this a few months ago, I've been hearing less boulder-bitching (i hear it in Denver, mostly).
Some hippies asked for a ride form Denver back up to Boulder, but after they talked shit about Boulder, I declined.
P.S. ( Read more... )

oh, ok.
I realized it was from the article. I'm not sure to whom he is referring - the cops maybe?

also, for the sake of the story, i left out that there were other reasons i didn't drive them back to boulder. not just because they said crap about the city.
i met them at a warehouse show in denver and they also started playing their bongos during a band's set - i believe they think they were adding to or playing "with" the band, but i spoke to a couple people in the band and they were thoroughly unimpressed and wished they could have played by themselves.
and they were clearly tripping face and being annoying and attempting to sell us junky jewelry. i had no desire to have them in my car for 45 minutes.

Thinking of you, Kathy...we are very lonely here right now, which I'm sure will improve as we get integrated into our school/work/life situations, but at the moment it's very solitary. You should come visit right away. Thanks so much for the metal bar, by the way. We are sending you a care package made of Meijer stuff...any requests? We decided that it's just like Walmart but nicer, except for how everyone races around with their carts and almost hits you. People drive carts like they drive cars here, which is to say extremely fast and recklessly, but no one seems to crash. Weird. All that to say that I miss you and Boulder, which I think is a neat town with some neat people in it. I miss a lot of things from there, including the Walnut and Lucille's, the international film festival and the Video Station, Sunflower farmers market, walking to the creek, and living at the house, where we never knew who would walk in. I liked that about it. It was like having a big group of friends who dropped in from time to time. Hope you're

faygo!!!
i love 60/40 and rock n rye!
I lived in Meijer when i was in high school...just walking around and stuff in the middle of the night with my friends.
if you are still interested in asking my cousin stuff (where to meet people, etc), she's on here as agape720, i think. also fb as lisa treumuth.
i'm sorry things are lonely :(
and i am sure it will get better.
we're having our first informal prism meeting tomorrow and we'll all be thinking of the both of you.
huh - i never noticed the cart issue, but i don't doubt it!

If you guys have extra time, go see lake michigan. it's beautiful. (but the most beautiful body of water i've seen in the world is torch lake up north). Or go on a drive though Detroit and see Belle Isle with its captive population of albino deer. Detroit really is pretty, if you can see past everything.

I gotta say that after starting classes at UCD, I found the campus to be much more diverse, welcoming and gay-friendly. You have a community college, state college and major university all on one campus, so people range hugely in income level and background. I'd say the campus is 40% nonwhite, and there are gay kids all over the place. Also, you can be gay there without this huge emphasis on being "straightacting" and having to work out 6 times a week just to fit in.

I didn't even realize that Boulder had problems until I saw an alternative. My boyfriend is Mexican (you know him...) and he says people in Boulder stare at him a lot and he often feels like he sticks out. It's easy to forget how comforting it is just to see people like you represented in a population, even when the people who aren't like you try their best to be supportive.

That said, there is a big difference between Boulder locals and Boulder students. I love Boulder locals - they're willing to learn. I can pretty much COUNT on my doctor being gay-friendly ( ... )

no, i know. i was just pissy. when i am arguing a stance, i tend to go past my actual feelings and thoughts.
and your bf - !!! ok, he didn't seem that young when i didn't know who he was, but he's young now that i do!
p.s. tell him chuck remixed his song - just never sent it back.
And I liked the song.
