i've said it before....the next time someone talks shit about boulder to me, i'm going to punch them in the face.
since i decided this a few months ago, I've been hearing less boulder-bitching (i hear it in Denver, mostly).
Some hippies asked for a ride form Denver back up to Boulder, but after they talked shit about Boulder, I declined.

I didn't even realize that Boulder had problems until I saw an alternative. My boyfriend is Mexican (you know him...) and he says people in Boulder stare at him a lot and he often feels like he sticks out. It's easy to forget how comforting it is just to see people like you represented in a population, even when the people who aren't like you try their best to be supportive.
That said, there is a big difference between Boulder locals and Boulder students. I love Boulder locals - they're willing to learn. I can pretty much COUNT on my doctor being gay-friendly, for example. Boulder students, on the other hand, come from a more narrow range of backgrounds, and while there is a lot of cultural pressure on them to be superficially tolerant, they have subtle ways of letting their prejudices show, I think.
