I applied for and got a reduced-fare MetroCard for the disabled today, and the ID photo they took of me makes my face look five times wider and flat as a pancake aside from the jowly-ness. Even the skin texture looks weird. This may be the ugliest ID photo ever taken of me, so I'm never using this card to prove my identity for anythingI'm amazed ( Read more... )

I got actual fitted ring splints today. Plastic, since they want to see how I do with them. Also, because silver spring splints, the therapist says, are a thing where I buy them upfront with my own money and then have to talk to Medicare and Medicaid to try to get compensated, something I don't know if I could afford. eta: As of 2 a.m. EST, the photo now has 6,113 hits.

I am so beat: a doctor's appointment, a bus ride downtown, a lot of walking, and a 40-minute standing wait for the Q38 bus that ended when I got fed up and walked home. I noticed in the mayor's talk after the strike was declared over that he totally avoided answering one reporter's question about whether the MTA will be held accountable for keeping two sets of accounting books.

The subway strike is on, and so is my commute from hell.

A subway strike is looking more and more possible. Commute from hell, 5 times as much to pay fares in the few things that will be working, being late to work. And I have hell to raise in Human Resources over my medical insurance so this is not good.
