My TV/DVD/VCR combo unit came back after being out for two weeks on repair. (Second time for the same problem.) Shop claimed that they couldn't verify that the problem existed. I watched a tape for 40 minutes before the VCR stopped playing and turned off the TV. Just as it had been doing previously. I've filed a complaint with the national Sears ( Read more... )

I'm glad you followed up on the complaint. Keep at them, and do not give it up as hopeless. The nice thing about the internet is that complaints do get through, and companies will often take action.

At least, Walgreen's did on my complaint. ::grins::

I know money is tight for you now, but once you're back on your feet (or when Christmas arrives) you can now get a combination DVD/VCR player for under $100, and of course the prices on TV's have dropped dramatically.

I just never trusted those combo electronics, and I'm sad my reservations are proved by your experiences.
