I unexpectedly got the notice tonight to upgrade my laptop to Windows 11, and I'm wary. Has anyone heard anything about it? You can comment here or at the Dreamwidth crosspost.

DO NOT DO IT. the thing is fucking *vile*. not only will you have to reset everything of all things, you will be as open to security breaches as a sieve. with big-ass holes in it where someone punched through it a few (dozen) times. DO *NOT* DO IT. also, you don't get an option to undo. microsoft is frantically trying to cover this 'oh shit' and i don't blame the employees because they were forced to release it way before it was ready (and what was that about win 10 being the end of windows upgrades?) but wow i sure as hell blame *MS*.

also if anyone you know asks about android 12, tell them the same thing.

Thank you so much for the information. I'm not going to 11 if this stuff is going on.

My phone is iOS, not Android, but thanks again.

i do know that you have an iPhone, but android 12 is ghastly for similar reasons, so i like to get the word out.

You can hide it. DO NOT UPGRADE. It's a monster and it can kill your computer after hours and hours. I've heard lots of horror stories about this thing. When it shows up, I right click and it gives you the option to hide it until later. I've done that twice and will continue to it. That thing is not going on my lovely laptop.

Thank you so much for the information. Fear of this is why I didn't just trustingly upgrade immediately.
