After a month-long blackout, I now have CBS and Showtime again. I'm catching up with the Dexter episodes I missed through On Demand, and damn does this season suck. I'd so hoped they'd go out big and with excellent writing for their final season. Though at least it made it so I didn't feel as bad missing it during the Showtime blackout.

But. How do you feel about the Charlie Hunnam & Dakota Johnson casting as 50 Shades of ****?

Also, I wasted the entire 3 day weekend making fun of, then devouring the POI episodes.

I can't help thinking 50 Shades is going to be a car wreck no matter who they casted, but I'm not terribly familiar with either of those actors, especially Dakota Johnson.

I mostly enjoy Person of Interest. Someday I might even get to see the first half of season 1!

The AV Club has been reviewing Dexter for years, and every once in a while I check in on the reviews just to see how angry/confused/frustrated the reviewer is.

Dexter has always played somewhat fast and loose with reality and Miami Metro's competence, but this season is particularly egregious. There are a number of events this season that should have led to dramatic and interesting consequences but just didn't. The show seems to be flailing from one event to another, not sure what it wants to do. It's hard to know whether to call anything a red herring when the writing suggests the writers don't have a clue as to what's important and what isn't either. It's a mess, and it's not even an interesting mess.

This is their final season so they should be trying to tie things together and figure out what they want to say for the series and characters as a whole but they don't even seem to know how to do any of that for just this season.
