I've come to the conclusion that I live in a state with numerous national guard and small military bases of all types through it in remote regions (not near the only big city here, Indianapolis) I would just move into one of those ( ... )

I'd worry about any remaining soldiers imposing martial law. They'd already have the guns.

I don't think they would be hanging out at the smaller places, I suspect they woudl have piled into a Huey and headed for a better secured base or an aircraft carrier, that would be my option if i had it.

In the comics, the car thing was explained by siphoning not being safe, as a lot of the cars have zombies locked in them.

They could always go to a big shopping ma...oh, wait. ;)

Not all fuel doors have locks on them. A lot of cars with fuel doors have a way to get them open hidden inside the trunk. (I know this from when the cord to open my Honda's fuel door broke while the door was closed.) There are ways to break into a trunk. Thus, there are ways to get gas without opening the cars' cabins.

Sometimes it's hard to live in the country and watch shows like this. Woe.

I've spent most of my life in the city and the suburbs--except for about four years in a backwoods section of Pennsylvania--and I know better.
