Epic Fail

My computer arrived today but it doesn't work. It won't let me install software because it says two things are open... that don't exist so I can't shut them off. That really sucks! I will admit that it always amazes me when something does work straight out of the box but I do expect some semblence of working. I hope those helplines are freephone numbers! Wishing you a fast postal service and tons of luck!

just another day in the life of me.

A tech-savvy friend has pushed the installation of AOL past the "two non-existent programs open" thing and managed to configure my modem to work in it. We were able to use the internet to correct the time. He has no idea what's up with the "System Wizard" thing.

But two hours in, while I had AOL and Word open, the notebook experienced a fatal error that made it shut down in self-protection. My friend looked in the log after we restarted but can't figure out what went wrong. When I get home from the library I'll try going online with Gray again to see if it recurs. I'm definitely going to use the System Restore discs when they arrive.

At least it works somewhat. I missed your DN and Bleachblogging!

Good luck with the System Restore disks.

Thanks! It's nice to hear that my content is missed!

I may need it. (I recently realized that Memorial Day weekend will probably slow the discs' travel my way....)
