Roaming Freely

So far my pain doctor doesn't want to burn my nerves. He doesn't feel I showed enough improvement from the steroid shots into my neck joints to make it worthwhile. We're doubling the dose of Topamax to see if that helps. I had new injections into my incision, so tonight the back of my head has a pulling feeling more than a hurting feeling and it's ( Read more... )

Yours looks so fresh! The one I saw had already been knocked around a bit. *g*

Mine is in sleepy little Evanston (and the pic was taken last Tuesday). Yours was in the City. All the difference in the world!

Everything's so worn off and grimy! I read "Ophelia" and thought I was wrong since the only elder Barrymore actor I'm familiar with was the male one. "Marilyn Miller as Sunny" looks like the names to me too. Teach me to read better when I'm actually there.

I took another look at a sharpened version of the big original jpg of the full side of the building. I believe that it's "Mary Pickford as Little Lord Fauntleroy." The male outfit there is a lot of what screwed me up on the rest. I picked out the "Little" fairly easily, nearly made out the "Lord," and then googled "Mary Pickford as Little Lord" to get the rest.

The final actress' name is too hard to read in every version of the building side I have on "film." What I'm making out, and I may be very wrong, is "RO__ _O_SY as _ORMA"

I'm sure there's a lot of cool old stuff that no one's gotten around to tearing down yet that's just hidden under the giant billboards for now. But give them time. They'll get to it. *sigh*

The funny thing is that I was about a second behind you through a different route, googling the names of the other three women to get this tribute that focuses on Mary Pickford but mentions the other women (including Rosa Ponselle) and that it's the I. Miller Building. From there I could Google to "Norma."

Whole blocks are being torn down to put up another monolithic glass and steel (with some stone) skyscraper for business and luxury condo purposes. The developers have deeper pockets and more friends than preservationists. Also, a lot of them have fewer morals. I navigate by landmarks, so it's been getting tougher for me lately.

Hey, is that Gabriel?

And I still want to kick Lucas for making it so that now every time I see Darth Vader my first thought is that bitch cry of "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Hey,

Strawberries looks fun, in a chaotic way. The first picture in particular looks like a TARDIS console room (old style, wooden version, MASK OF MADRAGORA era *g*)

Neat lion too, love how it seems to be disdained that sorta-cute yuppie is using a mobile in its presence *g*

Love the R2-D2 Mailbox!!

It's a rather Jules Verne TARDIS in some ways. *g*

I focused only on the lion while taking the shot, but I liked something about how the phone guy turned out too. That's also how I got my bubblehead shot during Bubble Bath. *g*

If you follow jfc013's link above, she has photos of a much nicer looking R2-D2.

That sounds like an awesome adventure. I hope you enjoyed as much as I enjoyed reading it.

And I'm glad your doctor is getting a clue.

I was worried at the beginning that I wouldn't be able to occupy myself or that I'd wear myself down too badly, but it turned out pretty well. Having warm, sunny weather helped. I spent a lot of time reading various free newspapers and watching the city go by in front of the library.
