OK, here are the things I made in 2010. I don't seem to have done as much as in 2009.

These are all so beautiful! You're very talented. The tam is just gorgeous and I love the pattern on those fingerless gloves.

The Wolf Bay ones or the green wavy ones? I can't decide which I like best of those.

I really like both patterns, but my eyes keep going back to the green wavy one.

It's a beautiful pattern, so elegant and almost art deco. I'm planning to make them again in a variegated blue/green.

BTW I think the pattern-maker is either Hawaiian or has spent time there because she calls them Nalu mitts, saying that "nalu" means "wave". :-)

Love the Iceland yarn tam. Really beautiful and contrast. I don't know that I'd ever wear something like that, but from a solely artistic POV you did a great job picking a pattern to show off the yarn.

I've really got to learn to knit more than just purls. Have you taught yourself to read knitting patterns or what?

You didn't learning how to knit before you purled? I learned the basics (cast on and off, knit, purl, increase, decrease) when I was about 10, but had to pick it up again when I made the DW scarves and the teleport bracelet. After that, I learned from sites like KnittingHelp (which has a great term glossary and vids) and YouTube since I mainly use US patterns and they have some different terminology from what I learned. Watching videos is extremely helpful. And unlike sewing, I really enjoy the process just as much as the result. It's so relaxing and almost meditative.

Um, you're really not interested in that diagonal scarf any more? Because otherwise I'll knit it up and maybe offer it on Etsy when I get round to setting that up.

Umm, I actually don't know knitting terms so maybe I'm saying it wrong. I know how to cast on and cast off and I know how to uhhh, knit straight rows to make a scarf. I thought that was purling, but perhaps it's just knitting. I don't know how to increase or decrease or do anything else. But one of my resolutions this year is to learn how to do something else, so I am bookmarking that and will look into it. I enjoy it, especially while watching mindless telly, but it does aggravate my right wrist after a while; I suspect I'm doing something wrong.

It isn't that I don't want the gorgeous diagonal scarf, but that I haven't been able to make clay figures in ages and couldn't hold up my end of the trade.

You're probably doing the knit/plain stitch then. How are you doing it? Do you use your right index finger to put the yarn over the needle, or do you hold the yarn in your left hand? The first is English, the second continental. You could have a go at each, using the vids on that site, to see which suits you better ( ... )

Thank you! I'm often disappointed when I finish an object because I enjoy the knitting so much. Are you learning yet? :-)

And thank you for the adorable baby otter. I love otters; you must have known that. :-)

Great - I didn´t know you loved otters :-) and now I know how to please you!
Hahaha, I am THINKING of learning...but yes, I will get to it eventually, I promise! :-)

Otters are like water-going cats! They're so cute.

Start of simply with a garter stitch (all knit stitch) scarf, then rib, then once you're happy with that, you can add more techniques as I have. There are some great videos to learn from, though of course most are American, but maybe you can google Czech ones.

Love the 2-colour beret. Icelandic yarn is lush.

I'm very pleased with it; the pattern really shows the colours off well, and I do like berets.

[bounce] I look forward to it!

If you stiffen up the wormhole with wire, let me know how you do it. I should have a go with mine which spends all its time upside down.

I think it's just fine as is, really. Gives me a kind of feel of masses at the edge of the event horizon. Although I might spice it up a bit later, I am slogging away getting my art show ready.
