As I said already, I really really dislike the direction Hamilton's Anita Blake series is taking. Incubus Dreams is the 12th book in the series, but it seems to be all sex and no plot :P. The "story" consists mostly of Anita stumbling from one supernatural emergency to another where the only solution that she screw someone, anyone, doesn't matter

A quote from the interview:
Amazon.com: Besides being action-filled and entertaining, your books tend to have a large amount of sex. What's the link between the undead and eroticism?
Hamilton: In my books, the reason the eroticism is so high is that people in the publishing industry were disturbed by erotic content. Not for its own sake, but because I was a woman writing from a first-person woman's point of view. Had I been a man, they would have been okay with it. The erotic content has risen because they told me it shouldn't only because I am a woman writing about a woman. It's what my grandmother calls being contrary. (the emphases mine)
I'm just hoping she feels she made her point with this book (which was pretty bad!) and will reduce the sex to a manageable level with the next one. I'm really hoping so, because I liked the series before it turned to soft-porn!!!

Almost every paragraph ends with...and they have sex. She slept with like 5 different guys in the book! This is getting ridiculous. I think I'm going to have to end the series with what I have. They are quite good thank you and I have no intention of paying good money to see a great character as Anita be dumbed down to having sex everywhere. Yes I do enjoy a romance novel now and again. But they are supposed to have that in there. This is taking an intelligent, ass-kicking female heroine and just ruining it. I'm so mad at Laurell right now.

I think I'll still give the next book a try when it comes out, but if this continues, I won't continue reading them.
