Incubus Dreams

As I said already, I really really dislike the direction Hamilton's Anita Blake series is taking. Incubus Dreams is the 12th book in the series, but it seems to be all sex and no plot :P. The "story" consists mostly of Anita stumbling from one supernatural emergency to another where the only solution that she screw someone, anyone, doesn't matter if she knew him beforehand or not. Bleh!

The detective plot seems like just an afterthought and is left somewhat open. The book wasn't a completely loss, since there were some character and relationship developments that were interesting and had needed resolving. Still, they didn't save the book.

I hope Hamilton gets her act together by the next book and gives her readers another kick-ass Anita adventure. At least with the preliminary reports that Edward (and Olaf from Obsidian Butterfly) should reappear in the next book, I can remain hopeful that it'll be so.

I checked the Anita Blake fan board and it seems that some of the overt sexual content is there just to spite the publishing industry and as a direct counterattact to the fan complaints. How juvenile and arrogant can an author get??? To change the emphasis of a so far working series just to spite her fans and the industry when they complain that some of the new elements in the books aren't working?!! Leaves a bad taste in my mouth about the whole thing :/.
