Even though I was smarting over the money I had to spend this week to get my car brakes fixed, I decided to spring for another, less urgent repair. I called yesterday to get an estimate on having my windshield replaced. I found out it would cost a little over $200 and that they could get it done as early as today. I chose to get it over with. One day I'll probably have to get my windshield replaced. There's always construction going on around here and I have a few 'stars' on my windshield. The first time I got one I had it fixed for $45. Within a month I had another 'star'. With the dump trucks everywhere spraying rocks around, it isn't worth it to repair the 'stars'. I'm not going to get my windshield fixed until I get a big crack.

I thought that insurance would pay for windshields?

We have a place around here that fixes the little chips in the glass for free. (Maybe there's a catch, but that's what they advertise.)

I think that the insurance coverage of windshields depends on the policy. I only carry the most basic kind that you can get in Michigan: liability insurance. Maybe more expensive policies would cover up to $200 of windshield costs, but I think premiums would go up if one were to claim it. (Or so I was told.)

Hey, your car could pass as the cousin of my car (it's a 2003 Toyota Matrix). I named it Kiko because it's more of a 'he'.

Yes, I know what you mean. Ever since I got this car, I've been looking around at other cars that have a similar design. I know that hatchbacks have been around for years, but there do seem to be a lot of varieties on the road today. Pontiac makes one that looks very similar too.
