Yesterday, I attended the
Festival of the Sun, a wine-tasting, beer-sampling, food and music festival held in Old Town, Lansing. I've been attending this festival for a few years now. I look forward to it all year. I always have a great time, and this year may very well have been the best time I've had to date.

Me too! I even found another Michigan winery that made some pretty good stuff. Only problem is that they are located in the northwestern ("Up North") corner of the lower peninsula. Maybe I'll look for their wines in stores, if I can find it.
I had a fabulous time! Having learned some basic dance steps makes it a whole lot easier for me to break the ice. I'm seriously considering learning other ballroom dances so that I have more options open to me. I'm going to send Doris an e-mail later today. It's almost been three days. (How's that for getting over Cristina quickly?)

And you had a wedding to be at too, right?
I think this festival would have been your cup of tea. (Or your glass of wine, in this case.) They have it every summer, so I'm sure it will still be going on after your tour of duty in Japan (assuming you come back to Michigan after that).
Has your exodus from East Lansing begun in earnest? Wanna go out one last time for pizza and wings this week? (I'm committed on Wednesday and Thursday, but the rest of my evenings are free.)

Anyway, the short of it is I'm not going to be around anymore.

That's okay. I knew your last day in town was coming up. I'm glad I hung out with you when I did.
It's been great to meet you and get to know you better in recent months. You're a fabulous person, and I'm proud to call you a friend. Have a safe trip. I look forward to reading about your adventures in the land of the rising sun.
