My allegedly guaranteed rate of 7.9% on balance transfers has been changed to 12.9%. Of course this is my card with the highest balance.

Unless some miracle occurs, my payoff date has changed from 2011 to 2013. If that doesn't depress you, nothing will.

I've decided that I'm going to keep my cable TV for now. Until the streaming sites can get the new episodes online in a consistent manner, cable is still worth hanging onto.

Speaking of streaming sites, I spent the long weekend (took Friday off) watching a lot of streamed TV and movies. I don't normally do a lot of that but it was fun.

My cable bill is pretty high. I pay about $130 a month for Internet (business class for $40) and DVR (the rest of it). I frequently go days, though, without watching TV. As with my cellphone, I'm not paying so much for actual use but for availability ( Read more... )

Yesterday I installed a new disk drive in my MacBook Pro. I went from a 5400rpm 160GB drive to a 7200rpm 320GB drive. I had previously offloaded my video to my Time Capsule disk, but that was unworkable. Whenever I wanted to watch it, I would get stuttering and such. I dropped of my main horn, my grandfather's 1949 Buescher 400, for some work. Mostly it's there to get the lyre holder put back on. When I was in school, it came apart, and because I was deathly afraid of saying anything about it, I took a torch and removed it completely without anyone knowing. I'm done for the year with the community band. There are parade opportunities but I'm not planning on participating in those, as I want to concentrate on my improvement program. Taking the rest of the week off and then this weekend starting up the improvement program.
