I finally got sick of the politicians, charities, and surveys calling me. I only had the land-line because I might want to call 911 and have them know where I live

Why didn't you just turn off the ringer on the telephone handset? That way you could still dial out but would never hear calls coming in.

Well, there's also the $25 a month that I didn't really need to spend either. Besides, everyone knows to call me on my cellphone anyways.
