Story Sketch
Sometimes I have ideas that will probably go nowhere but temporarily amuse me. It can be a character, theme, situation or what have you. They're not fully formed and lack the animus to really demand I develop them. Occasionally they do end up used as flavor in larger pieces or as creative fodder when I'm looking back.

The little man was made of wooden Popsicle sticks, held together with bulbous masses of glue and red yarn. His face was carved and painted like a totem mask. I'm going to ITALY!!!
It's funny how your life turns out vs. how you expect it to.
For example, when I was 19, I always assumed that one day I'd be taken around the world by rich friends who appreciated me for my worldly sophistication. Oddly enough, I ended up being pretty dead-on in my prediction... which is really, really odd if you think about it.

The Weekend

Flashing back
I spent the better part of last night going through my old short stories from 1995-1997. I expected that they would be fairly unpolished and painful to read: I had very little worldly experience at the time I was writing them. That said some were unreadable-- in particular my poetry which was inspired by the "Spoken Word" movement of the late 90's ( Read more... )
