...a girl has decided she hates baseball for a myriad of reasons and has found soccer. And that she needs some sport to watch after hockey (which ends in a couple weeks), so finding out that they end and start around the same time is a good thing for the MLS country. Now, what's a good team to support ( Read more... )

I know, but I'm from Atlanta. I've been over baseball all my life (along with football and basketball). There's not enough consistent movement in baseball. It's just not active enough to keep me interested. If I were interested, I'd just go 3 exits up the highway and watch the Gwinnett Braves play.

Nooooo, every single moment is a battle between the pitcher and the batter. (or the pitcher and the catcher, if the pitcher is feeling cheeky)

Growing up, I went to baseball games all the time and I couldn't really stand them...and this during the Fulton County Stadium days, and later a couple Turner Field. No dice. I ended up turning into one of those annoying girls commenting on the ugly clothes other people were wearing.

Was it fun to play? It looked interesting growing up but I wasn't about to play in the middle of the summer in the south, even I wanted to get up for early practices. Thank goodness for feeds to see who I like.

I can only imagine, especially given the way the game is played from what I've seen today.

I don't really follow MLS, aside from the New York Red Bulls. (Thierry Henry, the team's captain, was my favourite player when he played for Arsenal, where he was also captain.) To be honest, living in the UK, I cannot get into the US game at all. There is just something about it that isn't as exciting as EPL football.

Well, I wanted to follow the European leagues, but it looked y'all's seasons differed from ours and I need something until October when hockey'll be back. It's hard because it seems like we're on opposite times. I watched um, some cup a couple weeks ago or some game with Tottingham? That set of games whenever on BBCA.

I'm guessing it was the FA Cup semi-final vs. Chelsea. (As an Arsenal fan, I loathe both of these teams - Tottenham because they're our historical rivals - so basically like the New York/Boston thing - and Chelsea just because they are Chelsea.) Our season is over now - it runs from August - May.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against US football - I enjoyed watching them in the last World Cup, though Landon Donovan, who is a great player, said some pretty wacky shit during his interviews. I just think that it doesn't quite have the same... I dunno... "X-Factor"(?) that football of other nations has. Maybe because football comes in behind MLB/NHL/NFL/NBA in the US, whereas in many other countries it's the first sport.

It might have been. I just know the one team beat the other and I was mostly bored. I mean, it was pretty but I had no history to the clubs. That's one reason I looked at the MLs, since it ends in October, when hockey starts again ( ... )
