I am...employed! I am, I am. She'll call me tomorrow with the new schedule. Before I left the working interview, I cleaned all the dishes, did some laundry, cleaned the dog cages that went home cages. There were like four boarding dogs and a cockatiel. That was it. So nice. The TA (tech assistant) I was working with rocked since he was a former ( Read more... )

Congratulations! That's wonderful news! And it sounds like such a terrific place to work. I was just at the animal hospital today with my pup and I'm always struck by what lovely, caring people seem to take up that line of work.

I'm so happy for you!

Working in vet offices totally rock. You learn so much. They'll teach me how to feed birds and other exotic pets their meds and such. It's an amazing opportunity. I love it. It's where I feel more comfortable. What kind of pup?

And thank you! I'm thrilled myself. I need the structure and balance.

What kind of pup?

A lab/pit-bull mix. He's actually five years old, but he's still a pup to me. Sweetest dog you'd ever want to meet.

I'll be interested to hear about what kind of exotic pets you end up getting to see! I had a co-worker who was into exotic pets, and she had some critters I'd never even heard of!

Pit bulls have a bad rap. They're usually loving dogs. It's people who change them. I want a pit eventually. When I'm in my own stand alone house with a backyard since they need ample exercise. That would be a good cross because the pit would cancel out the hyperness of a lab and the lab would give the pit less scary appearance to the ill-informed. Five years is still puppy for labs. Until at least 7 years, in my opinion.

I've already seen two ferrets, a snake, and a cockatiel. Oh, and there was another bird (parakeet maybe) and rat in the waiting room. I love the exposure. It's pretty good, really. Not bad for two hours worth of work.

*grins* Thank you! I haven't been employed since April of last year, save for a day at another kennel, so this is very good for me. I do best with structure. Not having a job? No structure.

See what happens when you go away?! I get a job. You should have left sooner then. *grins* It's only 7.50/hour but it's good. I love the job so far.

I am too! I want to be happy, and like work. This place? Totally better and less crap. And less work, so I'll help the other areas if I have down time. Which is good. Cross-training is brilliant.
