Ever since I received a very insightful comment from Jon on my last entry, I have been contemplating the difference between me in 9th grade and me now. The funniest part is that I don't really remember much about 9th grade - it seems like it was so long ago. I do remember however that I was a completely different person than I am now. Some ( Read more... )

Interesting stuff. Isn't it funny, the difference between how we think things will turn out and how they do? Something that always happens to people our age is that we either realize the dreams we had when we were 10-15, or we don't... if we do it tends to consume us, and if we don't well... ditto. Most people don't live up to the grandiose visions of the future that their early teen incarnations had and it hurts (hope unrequitted is painful, after all), so they learn to stop dreaming and stop hoping ( ... )

There is nothing wrong with a little introspection from time to time - I just try not to let it take over. The question of "who am I?" has a tendency to be the hardest to ignore for most people. As for the Ivy League schools: considering the job market these days, there is no telling whether they are really worth the obscene amounts of money required. College graduates do get paid more than people with high school diplomas, but that only works IF they are actually able to find a job after college. I remember wanting to go to Harvard my whole life, and then applying for Pacific University and the University of Idaho when it came time to actually decide. Dreams change and the luster of achieving them wears away with time. There is no need to beat ones self up over missed opportunities, instead leap onto the next one that falls in your lap.

The question of "who am I" always amused me. I mean... I can seriously remember being FOUR YEARS OLD and thinking "... um, can't you just decide that?" and honestly today the answer is the same. Just an interesting aside. As far as the "mighty" ivy league: Once they were no longer a realistic possibility for me, I began reformulating my priorities, and honestly a college education really doesn't fit in. To be honest, I have no idea why I'm in college now, except that I'm so close to a degree I have no reason not to get it in hopes that it'll pay off. But honestly, my priorities have really really REALLY changed since highschool, and now I'm honestly amused at the entire concept of college.

I don't think I could imagine you afraid of anything. That's weird.

Anyway, I wanted to find out what your schedule was like tomorrow (thurs) I will be going downtown to the library in search of a talent for my pageant and I would love some input on monologues (or just some company) I know you are super busy but it's right by BSU...

Call me!

I am afraid of everything, I just try really hard not to be. If I come across as confident, then I guess I win.

hi hun! i called your house the other day, kind of late, like close to nine, and they said you were in class. wow.

stop being an overachiever!

:)

Only teasing, I just think you are so driven and so busy! I will be lucky if I can ever steal you away.

Feb 24th... sometime around that date I will be going to Cow Town with Desiree (you remember her) for a free concert and a chance to say hello to everyone. just a few days, not long, check your schedule and see if you can afford a break!

Sorry I missed you and that I couldn't help out with your monologue. I wouldn't call what I am "driven" I would call it trying to achieve sanity. Keeping myself busy is the only way to get through being here when Ryan isn't. I miss cow town. What time are you leaving on Friday, and are you coming back on Sunday night?
