Friday night was rather depressing. There's a building near the mouth of the river called the Spanish Arch. It was built in the 1400's or something to protect the traders from Spain. There was a vigil there for all the victims of the Madrid bombing. There were about 2000 people there and lots of them had candles and we had a 5 minute silence at ( Read more... )

Terrorism has been going on in Spain forever. ETA has killed hundreds of civilians in the last few years. I am only angry because it makes news now because it's "relevant" to the rest of the world. They find a conveniently placed bus with detanators and verses from the Qur'an near the site, so it gets publicised...everywhere. Personally, I don't think it's Al Qaeda's style. If these Islamic fundamentalists are so obsessed with becoming martyrs for Allah, why would they stake out in a bus with detanators? It may be a conspiracy, but I won't go so far as to say so ( ... )
