The problem with sneaking a day of writing in at work as that the next day, doing actual work is so terribly dissatisfying. -
Wednesday writing
Tonight the writing group meets sans instructor, just to write. I'm absurdly excited about this. Like most writers with a full plate (full time job, a commute, two kids (one in high school who wants to get a job and start driving), an aging mother and a bereaved mother-in-law, an upcoming wedding (hopefully), etc.), my biggest challenge is sitting ( Read more... ) -

Watched Trainwreck with Marja and drank 4oz shy of a gallon of beer. Now I feel the need to go work out. I hate working out. -
burning the candle at both ends

Ephininis
(Mini-epiphanies.)
1) I'm not a strict parent, and I'm OK with this.
2) It's OK to be ambitious about everything except my day job. (That's why it's a day job.)
3) I love surf music. Not The Beach Boys. Think Dick Dale.
4) If I were a novelist, it would be totally OK to have a martini with lunch on a workday. -

reluctant return
My screen writing group is meeting this evening. I'm not ready (I never am), but I do have something written at least that I can discuss. I also need to sit down and play with the software. I've been cheating long enough. Screenwriting is tough for me, because you don't have the same leeway to play with words. There is only so much time and space ( Read more... ) -
tear it down again
Today I'm thinking that sometimes life is like playing with blocks. Eventually, you've used up all the pieces, and what you've created is probably cool, but in order to keep building, you're going to have to tear everything down and start over.
I'm just really, really scared to start pulling the bricks out!
