Your Favorite Charity?

So I'm getting married in October and my mother of all people (whos been the most traditional in planning everything) suggested that we do a donation to a charity for our favors and then just put a nice scroll all the tables to tell them about it

Our charity of choice is the ASPCA! www.aspca.org <--there's all kinds of information on there about doing a donation in memory of or honor of a specific event

Ooooh, I didn't know some of them print cards! That'd be great!
I don't want to push my beliefs on people, I just want to have something so I don't get a ton of angry Italian relatives coming up to me, "WHAT, NO FAVORS!?" to just explain why.

Even though you didn't mention it, you helped me get an idea! Maybe instead of a ton of individual little notes on everyone's tables, I could make a nice sign announcement in the front? I could put pictures up there if I want too.

I think that'd be really neat! And tbh, I don't think it's "pushing your values" on anyone (because, PSH, you don't owe them anything, this is your wedding!!), I just know that some snooty relatives at my own wedding bitched about that very thing (so be on the lookout, in case). I have Italian relatives now too, because of my husband! :D

Man I hope everything goes GREAT! My wedding was fabulous (I'm fast approaching my first anniversary, yikes!)--I hope yours is everything you want it to be and more!!

Italian relatives are the worst! Usually they're so traditional -you have to do it in a hall, you have to have centerpieces that they can (and want to) take home, they have to have a FULL. MEAL., etc., etc.

Aside from all the bear hate, people are using a story about bears in trouble to air their racist views? Wha? Because they're black bears? I mean, really is that it? That's ridiculous!

PCRM (pcrm.org) is a great group to donate to. They're really dedicated and thorough in their mission, and they manage to do a lot to end animal testing and promote veganism, even if they have a smaller budget than some other AR groups.

Lemme know if you have any questions about them- I used to work for them.

That's great, I'll look into them. Thanks! I'd prefer to donate to someone with a smaller budget, someone who needs my help more than a large place like the ASPCA -whom I'm still considering too.

That's so nice of you! I'd check and see if a small, local shelter or rescue would be willing to make you favours.

I work in an animal shelter, and we make them at ours with pics of the bride and groom and their pets :)

If that doesn't work, I second the ASPCA idea, they have lovely ones on their site.
