I'd say that a strict vegetarian eats a vegan diet but does so for non-animal rights reasons, such as for the environment or health. I suppose that could mean that they eat honey. As for your other question, I only know one person who's half African American that's vegan, but that probably speaks to my college's and hometown's demographics more so than anything else.

There's a place where I'm from called Quickie Too, which is a vegan deli owned by true blue Jamaican Rastafarians. It's an amazing place :) It's also in an area of town that's very racially diverse, which is even cooler!

woot woot PNW.
I used to live right next to hillside quickies, and now go to Quickies in the u-district. I love their jamaican fusion food, and they always have great holiday meals to go.

I would agree with your definition of strict vegetarian. Or it might mean a dietary vegan who still wears animal products...but it's not a term that has a steadfast definition.

i'm like... one sixteenth moroccan, if that counts. haha

from my understanding, yeah, the term vegetarian is a flexible term. it can refer to a diet that doesn't strictly adhere to excluding all animal products- in whole form (slab of meat, block of cheese) yes, but not really "hidden" ingredients. there are 'strict' vegetarians of different degrees; pure vegetarians=essentially vegan with the exception of dairy, etc. at least around here.
