Election year

Voting Republican is NOT vegan. Conservatives have long supported policies that are detrimental to wildlife and the environment. your vote this november and every election, should reflect your lifestyle accordingly.

Actually, voting for anybody in this election isn't "vegan", although "republican" policies tend to openly kill many more people and animals.

The american political system is a ravenous death machine. It's hunger for money and blood is only matched by the ignorance of the individuals still propping it up.

listen bud, i'm an anarchist too, however you can try to act like by voting for one candidate or another isnt going to make a difference, but it IS. the difference could be hundreds of thousands of human and non-human lives because of the policies these parties support. not voting isnt going to tear down the system and we are far too vast a minority, however voting and participating in a system that you fundamentally disagree with can still produce SOME good.

There is an endless amount of evidence that counters your perception that the voting system is infallible. Everything from voters lists being purged to the giant painted turd called "electronic voting". If you think your ends will be achieved by voting, then more power to you. There is plenty to do that can produce more than an a marginal amount of "good", and has tangible and positive/productive results.

representative "democracy" preserves the illusion of participation and consent.

i have to say it is more about platform than party.
this is like saying being with a man is not feminist.

and what is it that the republican platform promotes.....

you can find that info on the web ;)
i am not republican, but nor am i democrat. there *are* vegan republicans. all i am saying, is that we should avoid sweeping generalizations across political parties. just because animal rights is a progressive cause, it doesn't exclude particular party members.

voting isn't vegan

do you really think imperialist capitalism is conducive to the rights of all life?

Reply

igivesafuck October 10 2008, 21:46:07 UTC
as i stated in other replies, is NOT voting going to change that? no, there is still going to be an imperialist capitalist system in place, but one is going to be MORE detrimental to the environment and wildlife than the other.

obviously my post is directed at the upcoming elections in the united states, i dont see how that really makes a difference in the argument.

and yes any american political party is going to contribute to the devastation of the planet, but one significantly more so and faster than the other.

there are many things in ALL of our lives that are negatively impacting the planet including using a computer, but baby steps my friend. there is a saying "rome wasn't built in a day" well im for revolution, not reform, but you need to change public opinion before that can ever happen.
