I was just checking my myspace and sent a message to someone. After my message had been sent a page with "sponsored links" popped up and the biggest link on there was one for Petakillsanimals.com. It said "check out petas euthanasia record ( Read more... )

I am all for anti-PETA ads personally. It's nice that in my almost 12 years of veganism that other people have started to realize that PETA is a bad organization. Like that they do kill animals, that they have lists of stuff on their site for things that aren't even vegan, not to mention all the racism/classism/sexism/homophobia/fatphobia...

Although I hear you on the bacon. ewwwwww

Those ads depend on you, they pop up depending on keywords you have typed or receive in your messages. So most people probably won't see it, but still. I don't like it.

On the bacon thing, you should use firefox with the adblock extension. :) I don't see any of the background stuff on the myspace homepage. So I see no bacon, yay.

Haha, is that how amazon decides which mailers to put in their book orders? Because when I ordered veganomicon and vegan freaks they stuffed the package with coupons for McDonald's souther chicken crapwhich. I think I am just going to back off of myspace. I just get friends requests from bands anymore, anyways.

it made sense.

I have heard a lot of stuff against PETA too. IMO anything that is done in EXTREME is never good. I support certain aspects of PETA but not everything. I feel that they end up turning a lot of people away in the end. Basically, I am just always cautious when it comes to extreme orginizations.

I'm not saying I don't like them. I do, a lot. I think they go too far sometimes which is why I said I think they are extreme.

Ta far meaning - a recent incident in Boise, Idaho, where two people made out on a sidewalk to support unproven claims that vegans make better lovers -- Cute, I understand what they are trying to get accross but where is the animal welfare in that?and According to ActivistCash.com, PETA spends less than 1 percent of all the money it receives actually attempting to directly help animals.

I love the vulgar ads PETA puts out and the fact they are trying to inform people of the horrific side of the food industry. But I'm just saying to be cautious, thats all.

oh ok, i get you.

i meant they're not extreme with the animal welfare because it's a pretty comfortable topic for most people: ie happy meat.
the abolition of the food animal industry all together.. is what i'd call extreme. PETA may secretly hope for it, but they spend a lot of time working with fuckers like McDonalds for "more humane" slaughter. that's not extreme at all.

but every movement needs groups on the whole spectrum from soft groups like the Humane Society to hard groups like the ALF. they all have different functions, work from different sides.. all of which are essential in the movement.

I thought it would be a good rant, instead of ohhhh, say, What vegan make up should I use, and where can I get a good pair of vegan shoes for work?
My post wasn't a question wondering why people hate peta. It was just a rant about shit I have to see in my daily life that I could really do without. Maybe you should post a thread about hating rants?

myspace is loaded with ugly advertisements, is slow as fuckin hell, and generally makes me want to rip my hair out.

i stopped using it after the double bacon cheeseburger ads.

as for PETa, at least they're trying. i support what they aim to do.. but not always how they do it.
