ok so the only class that is available for me to take in order to graduate Summer (I'm at The Ohio State Univ) is Anatomy including CAT DISSECTION. I emailed the prof to ask if I could still pass without doing this. Awaiting her response

Good luck, but prepare for the worst. I've seen this come up here, and in person. The dissections are usually a big part of the class and cannot be gotten out of.

excellent advice. i will find out. ok i got some ideas (i work with anthropologists and they're doing forensics field school this summer... maybe i can get science cred for that DUH why didn't i think of that! ) THANKS i will ask!

My sister did virtual dissections for all her required ones. I don't know the program they used (she was not the only one requesting it) but she's at Kansas State University.

my friend had a similar issue with a fetal pig dissection at cincinnati state college this past semester. she had to get "permission" from the head of the department to do an online 3d simulation. they gave her so much shit for it, and now she's transferring schools.

she did it and got the credit, but the head of the department was a total asshole. he dismissed her beliefs by questioning why she had a problem with it. :/

I think she is completely bullshitting you about being the first one to ever ask, but I'm glad she is atleast maybe open-minded.
You know mutilating animals is one of the first signs of having some SERIOUS mental issues. Why is "ok" when it is required?
Who ever put together that virtual dissection should be curb-stomped.
