Field Roast Celebration Roast

Dec 03, 2011 09:51

Does anyone have any tips on how to prepare a Field Roast Celebration Roast? (like, what to baste it with or what to cook it with) I thought I'd try one tonight for my pre-Christmas-decorating dinner, but alas, it does not come with handy serving/cooking suggestions like Tofurky!

I prefer the regular field roast uncooked and sliced. If I want a cooked on I get the field roast en croute which is amazing.

a field roast baked in a "butter" and brown sugar glaze is pretty decadently awesome. i'm sure it's like 1000 calories an ounce, but so worth it.

for my Quorn roast (not vegan) I did an oil-herb mix. I used poultry seasoning. I wrapped it in foil to cook and flipped halfway through bake time. It was awesome.

I'm curious too because I baked one for Thanksgiving and served it with mushroom gravy, but it looked kind of ugly. It would be nice to cook and serve it in a more appetizing way.

i don't know what a field roast is because i'm in australia and not vegan, but when i make my own version of tofurkeys, (giant vegan tofu roasts that i stuff with magical delicious stuffing), i baste them with a yumsch mixture of maple syrup, a small amount of vegan stock and seeded mustard. over and over. OMG SO GODO.
