tahini sauce question

Apr 13, 2008 00:43

can i freeze tahini sauce?
it's store bought (i don't know how to make GOOD homemade tahini!) for falafel the other day but couldn't finish it all.
there's a TON left and i really don't want it to go bad.

anyone have any experience with freezing tahini sauce?

works out great!
i have a container i bought ~6 months ago i keep reheating to use a couple tbsp for hummus, and then i just refreeze it, lol. and i know it comes in cans and jars, so it's not that perishable

thank you! although everybody says it shouldn't go bad, i wonder what the hell i did wrong the first time.
it's just i feel more comfortable freezing it when i'm not using it.
i do think the freezers magic though.

I have never frozen it but then again, I have never had any go bad in the fridge. It seems to keep forever, just like peanut butter!

My family doesn't even refrigirate tahini - it keeps wonderfully in the kitchen pantry, right along with soy sauce, tahini and peanut butter.

Tahinopita, maybe? I've never had it but that recipe came to mind when I read your post.

If it's a cake, it's probably tahinopita (though now I'm *totally* craving some halva!).
