[Having been given the day off from training due to a botched trick that left their ankle just this side of sprained, Akito decides to go to the park for a change and have a picnic with the ducks

[It isn't unusual for Minato to wander--he often takes care of people in that way, and it is that time of the month for people to start arriving. With his job in the Welcoming Committee, it's not really surprising he keeps an eye out for new arrivals.

But something else catches his eye today, and he blinks upon spying Akito by the lake. Then, with a shrug, he sticks his hands in his pockets and wanders over, expression curious.]

Akito-kun? Are you feeding the ducks?

[skyglide]

[He pauses, thinking it over for a moment.]

I suppose so. That's just how things ended up for me though! It made it that much better when I finally found a reason to be happy.

[lunateclock]

[He's quiet, expression contemplative, still peering into the lake. Hm. His fingers are wet now.]

...You mentioned that this world took everything away from you. That as well?

[skyglide]

[He falls silent at that, remembering his time with Ikki here - how it was everything he ever wanted, and more - and how quickly it was taken away.

But he laughs, somewhat dismissively. Better to laugh than to do something stupid like cry, after all.]

[That smile...it saddens him. He's a little sad that this person here has to smile to hide his pain like that. But he doesn't know him well enough to say anything but--]

...I'm sorry to hear that, then. It isn't very fair.

Life isn't fair.

[A quiet tilt of his head.]

Compared to what, exactly, Akito-kun?

[He pauses for a minute, thinking about it.]

..Everything, really.

[lunateclock]

I'm not sure I understand. Life is...everything we have, isn't it? Our lives, and others. If it isn't fair compared to that, then there has to be a way to fix it to be more fair.

Life is more complicated than that, and if there was to make it fair it would have been found already.

[lunateclock]

...I'm not so sure. If everything would have been found already--this included--there wouldn't be much to live for.

But each day is a discovery, and unpredictable.

[That's what makes it worth getting up in the morning.

...But ah-- shoot. He blinks, glancing to the basket in his hand.]

Oh. That's right, I was going to bring this back to Red-kun.

[He stands then, tucking his other hand into his pocket. A pause--despite the fact that he's now late to help the Welcoming Committee--]

Ah, you should go then.

[He's reminded of the time when he and Red were friends. He holds back a frown, wondering what happened for a moment before deciding he's just bad at making friends. It would explain a lot, after all.]

Eh? Um, you're welcome, I guess.

[A bow of his head.]

[And then he walks away, off on his next errand that he has to run.]
