Wizard-loved, Witch-adored and Over Here?

Dec 07, 2007 17:49

Back in September I noticed, and mentioned here, that my favorite new TV shows all starred British or Australian actors (or both) playing Americans. What I'm now noticing is an odder trend: most of them are or have recently been involved with Harry Potter actors.

Chuck from Pushing Daisies, Anna Friel - has a baby with David Thewlis (Lupin).

Sophia Myles and David Tennant? Freakish worlds colliding... (Hmmm. Not that she's exactly my image of her, but wouldn't she have made a far better Fleur? Just saying.)

And Friel/Thewlis eeeeuw.

Alex O'L seems to be dating some Australian singer, apparently. Named Holly. Will find link and send it to you.

You wouldn't think so if you'd seen her on Doctor Who. But I don't think of it as worlds colliding anyway, because they've both been in costume dramas - that's the great British equalizer.

And no, goodness! She's too old play Fleur.

David and Sophia broke up? I'm inexplicably sad about that.

Who's single these days? Sean Biggerstaff?
Robert Pattinson, also. Gosh, 20-somethings in HP are few and far between.

Hum, I had no idea about Damien and Helen. Wouldn't it be hilarious if Damien ended up as Bill Weasley?

I'm sad about it too. I didn't know until I was googling for pictures of them together for this post. I know celebrity couples never last long, but they're so adorable in "The Girl in the Fireplace"!

He looks more like he could be Ron's father than his brother, I would say. I would love it if DL got into the Potter movies somehow, though.

Ooh, that is kind of weird.

Also, you are extremely observant. ;)

Hee! I can see how it would look that way, but only because I combined into one post relationships I heard about separately over the past three months. Nor am I even quite as an obsessive a fangirl as I'm sure I must appear... I found about about Anna Friel and David Thewlis because I clicked on some news link about the "bad sex awards" for fiction - and there was a picture of them at top, because DT was a nominee.

I just read too much entertainment news online, is the problem.

Okay, that's a link you have to share. Bad sex awards? Is that for poorly written sex in fan fiction? People you don't want to see having sex on film? Is there an actual award? Because, if there is, it would be ever so vaguely awesome.

No, not fanfiction, proper fiction. For tasteless, stupid, grotesque, or otherwise badly-written sex scenes in novels. I can't find the original link but here's the Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_Sex_in_Fiction_Award.
