I've had a delightful few days of exercise while watching rec'd shows; right now Friday Night Lights is in the lead (Val liking football; I can't even tell you how confusing that is), but I can't wait to try out everything people recommended. My husband ran into a bear in the woods today.

Everything's fine, but geez. Still wrapping my head around "I live in bear territory now." Did you know they can smell food from 5 miles away, and the smell of clothes you've cooked in or even a closed tube of toothpaste can attract them to you? I love bears and even I'm a little freaked.

As to even consider becoming a search and rescue dog owner I actually need (ahem) human search and rescue training, I've located the local search and rescue group and am devouring their website. I'm such a newb (I haven't camped in years), I'm more like the people they rescue than the reverse - but I'm young, pretty strong and healthy, like hiking ( Read more... )
