Search and Rescue

As to even consider becoming a search and rescue dog owner I actually need (ahem) human search and rescue training, I've located the local search and rescue group and am devouring their website. I'm such a newb (I haven't camped in years), I'm more like the people they rescue than the reverse - but I'm young, pretty strong and healthy, like hiking, have a more flexible work schedule than the average joe, and find that the thought of getting to be involved in a search and rescue motivates me to take care of myself (work out, eat right, etc.) like nothing else EVER has.

Besides, who doesn't want to learn brilliant skills like map use, compass use, ham radio skills, crime scene securing, clue tracking, and knot-tying? I swear, I feel like a girl going to her first prom. I'm absolutely giddy. I so hope they'll put up with my ignorance long enough to make myself useful. I'm guessing they're all going to be uber-wilderness people.
