It was the same way with me, nappy = bad, straight = good. short = bad, long = good. etc etc etc. And currently I don't love my naps, but honestly, reading what you wrote, makes me want to start loving them.
I'm going to try to love my natural hair more than I do.. thanks Tracie ^^
Writing a thesis is a lot of fucking work. It sits on your shoulder for a whole semester and taunts you until you feel like throwing it out the window. Having said that, it was the best fucking thing I wrote in college and I'm glad I did it. If you really throw yourself into it, you'll feel immensely gratified when you have a finished product to look back on.
Reading this makes me realize how so many similar thoughts about my own race were put into my head at an early age, at a later age, even still today. I admire that you're in the stages of turning those negative thoughts around, if only for yourself, because it's a huge struggle to go against everything you were ever taught to perceive about your race.
I find that thesis are easy. I don't need to be interested in something to write a paper on it either. Strangely enough. I do better when I care for it for personal interest but rarely does that happen. I usually do stuff that bores me... All I can say is suck 'er up and do it. It can't hurt to write something. Besides, handing in half-ass work is better then handing nothing in and getting a zero for it. SOmething is better then nothing
( ... )
well, i wasn't referring to a thesis statement, but a dissertation sort of thing. like at university or in grad school, sometimes both depending upon what you're into, they make you write like a 20 page paper on a topic in your major in order to get your degree. it varies though.
