Does anyone know why we have to make Pokémon fight against each other? Special powers or not, they're still animals from what I've seen. They're not supposed to be fighting machines. It's wrong for them ( Read more... )

I know I don't. I've been made as a breeder, even, so I have even less of a reason to do so... but that doesn't change the fact that some people mnake them fight even if they'd be hesitant over it. Which is just wrong.

People just shouldn't use animals to fight in the first place. [Which is why he has never liked playing Pokémon.]

I... suppose. I mean, I can understand Pokémon fighting in the wild and the wish to protect your partner, really... but then there's the fights with trainers and those Gym leaders. They seem more like something for "fun" than anything important. Do the Pokémon see battling as "fun"?

[Looks up.]

Aoi? Where did you leave Natsume?

[Aoi says "Nyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~" and sits there, right in front of your feet. Who knows? He's probably walking to the same direction, no worries.]

[Luca gets down and pets the Skitty gently.] You really shouldn't run off. You'll worry Natsume.

but it's natural order to argue, isn't it? and just because you fight hardly means that you're bad by any means! it's just a way to get things done.

not to mention the stronger you are, the better you get at protecting yourself and the people important to you

That's most likely the case if the Pokémon wants to fight... but what if they wouldn't want to do that? It wouldn't be fair to force them.

Fighting to protect isn't wrong... just making someone do what they don't want is.

i suppose... it's just a matter of knowing how and eventually the pokemon will put it into practice or not? i agree that a trainer should not force their pokemon to fight, but no one wants their pokemon to be unable to defend themselves.

the wild is dangerous, after all.

I think I can understand your point. [It's just hard to see Pokémon fighting, when he's never asked animals to fight for him.]

I believe the guide said something to the effect of strengthening one's bond with the Pokémon through battling together.

Of course, I only battle when on the road, and only when threatened, so perhaps I am not the best person to say anything on the topic.

Strengthening bonds? Sounds like an odd way to do it.

I'm going to battle as little as I can as well. It wouldn't really feel right to challenge the trainers or the gym leaders.

It does, doesn't it?

You are a breeder, right? In that case, battling gym leaders is not really necessary. There are some nice perks if you do, though.

There would be far better ways to do that.

Like what?

It's not wrong when it makes them stronger. They can't exactly evolve without gaining levels. Besides, that's just the way things work in this world.

Better to not question it.

Is it necessary for them to evolve?

And I suppose it is. It's just hard to get used to.

Why have a Charmander when you can have a Charizard? I'd take a tough, flying dragon over a fire lizard any day.

I think Charmanders are great this way, too... but I can see your point.
