So, I don't know if any of you have heard, but apparently Yahoo is shutting down delicious. I don't know if any of you use delicious, so you might not care at all, but to me this is awful fucking news. It's not so much that I'm going to lose a place to keep my bookmarks. Honestly, I don't actually have that many things bookmarked on delicious. What ( Read more... )

That's almost as tragic as when AOL shut down Ficlets. :(

It sucks when awesome sites get shut down. :( Not only for the people who use them, but also for the programmers who put so much effort into them. It's really too bad that these things are run by corporations who care more about money. /mini-rant

Dude. FUCK. I have...*goes off to check* 2013 bookmarks there. Now I have to find somewhere else to put them.

Have you found any good alternatives?

Also, WHY, YAHOO.

D: This sucks so much.

I found out delicious was closing via copperbadge's post and in the comments are some good suggestions for what to use as alternatives. If you don't feel like slogging through that post the sites suggested most were: diigo, pinboard (which seems to be considered the most liked, but it costs 7 dollars to open an account, while the others are free), and Xmarks. Some (I forget exactly which) let you export your bookmarks from delicious to them so there's less stress about manually transferring everything. I hope some of this is helpful to you.

Ug, Yahoo. I'm not very happy with them at all. There just isn't anywhere quite like delicious when it comes to the social networking of bookmarks.

Also also there's hope today. Yahoo says they might not be shutting delicious down, although they are definitely through with it. I'd still back up my bookmarks just in case, but, hey, hope, so that's a good thing. Hopefully it can be maintained after Yahoo is gone.

Here is where I got the links to the hope thing. And Copperbadge does have some good advice about not panicking and being smart about changing sites and stuff.
