YAY! So I love this, and you already know why, but let me just pull out some very lovely lines:

"Me too," he adds, the phrase tripping comfortably off his tongue. It has replaced "you okay?" as their placeholder.

LOVE IT. I just kinda love what this means, I love the connection to sort of their earlier back and forth and the use of "placeholder" is great, it's very fitting and real for how they operate.

She turns up the corners of her lips and swats away apologies like bees. Her smile is never the same, he realizes; he always knew but he only realizes it now; it is never the same, shifting and wavering with the wind behind her back. Now it is calm and patient and he knows that this means she is hurt.

This is lovely. I love the change you made, you are your own best judge when it comes to that stuff, really! But this is lovely, lyrical, and meaningful and sad without being too sad.

simultaneously pulling him closer and pushing him awayYES just because it is so them and so true and yes. I love how you fit in metaphors and kind ( ... )

Whoa--this comment is SO amazing! Thank you so much! :D :D You are way too nice to me. I'm really happy that you liked the placeholder thing! J/K are so limited in the way they communicate. It's hard to get on paper because their deepest emotional exchanges always end up being so stilted and careful--so it's great to hear you liked that! :D

Without your help/affirmation I don't think this would ever have seen the light of day, seriously. So, THANK YOU. This comment makes my day!!

But he says "love"! And there's implied!shower!sex! And a pretty New York hotel! That's schmoopy by my standards! ;P <3

Sometimes I don't know how I put up with them, either. I love them--but they are so infuriating. So much heartache. And yet I always come back. I'm so happy that you liked this, and especially Kate! You said it so well. I think that's why I love her, too, and why I will always love J/K more than J/J. Dysfunctional > normal. ;)

Your comments are always so insightful and wonderful. Thank you so much! :D It means so much!

Wow. Just wow. You write so beautifully, I felt like I was right there with Jack in every hotel room. The scenes were all so vivid and I love the little details (eating crackers in bed, his frost-bitten nose). And the ending was so wonderful and unexpected and sad...just gorgeous.

You have a way of making me fall for Jack/Kate that the show never has quite managed to do. There's something about the way you write them that makes me fall in love right along with them.

Wow--this comment blows me away. Thank you so much! I'm so happy that it feels real, at least a little! And that you like my J/K--I know that they're very difficult to love unless you're already there, so that means so much to me. Thank you so much for reading and for the incredibly kind comment! :)

(Little!Jack! Aww! :D)

Okay, so first off let me get the caplock-y stuff out of the way ...

OH HELL NO YOU DID NOT NAME-DROP MY CITY IN YOUR FIC. :D

AND WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU WORRIED ABOUT?!

This is tied for my absolute favourite thing you've ever written, right up there with 'The House Set Fire to My Heart'. It's not silly or self-indulgent at all; you've figured out the best possible ending for both these characters, and they way you sketch their journey there is incredible. Even with your story moving over time and geography, you still manage to set the stage so perfect for each and every meeting -- you had me rooting so desperately for them but never quite believing they'd manage to break out of that repetition.

But then the ending ... so bittersweet and lovely and fitting. And the last line -- absolutely electric. I hope now that you're out of the writing process you realize how fantastic this fic is, seriously -- you've done these characters justice without ever turning away from what they really are. Well done.

OH YES I DID! ;D

:D :D :D! Your favorite? Really? :D This comment is so much more than what this fic deserves! Thank you so, so much! I am so thrilled that you liked it!

But I still don't care for it. ;P I think it's nearly tied with my least favorite of my fics, the other one you mention, actually--this one ranks so low because this is basically my ideal scenario for J/K, as I think I told you, and it is much too important to me for me to enjoy. But I think with this wonderful comment I'll have to try to re-evaluate. ;) Thank you, again, for reading and for being so incredibly kind. It means the world that you liked it!

First of all, thank you so so much for writing this. This is more than I expected when I posted this prompt, but it's also exactly what I wanted. Jack and Kate are so in character, and I love this push and pull dynamic. It's so true to who they are. I love the last paragraph especially. This fic is exactly what I want Jack and Kate to be on the show.

No, thank YOU for the amazing comment! It really makes me happy that you liked it and that you think they're in character! :D And I am so thrilled that you like the scenario! I like it better than what we get on the show, too, if only because--in my book, at least--anything would be better than that fake kid!LA!domestic bliss!farce we got. *sigh* Anyway--thank you so much for your lovely kind words!
