Summary : Cale went home from the studio only to find that his husband already left their house.
A/N: It's kinda irony when I wrote the song is from Barbra & Lionel but the truth is I was listening to Rachel & Mr Schue from Glee when I wrote this story. Well, the original artist is Barbra & Lionel.

So the song flow goes like this:

“Dude, I need to go home now. This is the 5th time I’m staying late in the studio for this week”, Cale pleads to Kris, asking permission from him to go home.
Usually he’s just fine telling his husband that he needs to stay late to work on some songs with Kris, but not that night. Cale feels something was different after he put down his phone.
Kris sighed. It’s not like he likes to spend his night at the studio either. But they have the damn deadline that they need to meet.
He curses to the management for suddenly changing plans like this.
“I guess we can call it a wrap for tonight.”
Cale silently say his thanks to God in his heart for that. It’s not like he's lazy or anything, but staying there working will only lead him to become more unproductive than he already is.
It’s impossible to write a good song if your heart is not fully committed to it.

After Cale bid his goodbye to Kris, he glances at his watch.
It’s only 12 in the midnight.
It’s far earlier than usual. Usually they would end it around 4 or 5 in the morning. Sometimes they don’t even have the time to take a break.
“I think it’s good to buy some food for supper” Cale thought to himself.
It broke Cale's heart actually to leave his husband James alone all the time, especially because they are still newlyweds. The only scene he saw whenever he got back from the studio was James sleeping alone in their bed while his arm cuddled another pillow.
It breaks his heart but sometimes work is work. He can only hope James can understand it more than anyone else in this world.
He hasn’t heard James complain about it so far. So he's secretly hoping everything will turn out fine and he swears he will do anything to pay back for the time he lost to spend with James.

“James, I'm home,” Cale shouts from the front door while he walks inside their house.
Cale is embraced with the silence and the emptiness from his own house.
“Where’s James? Is he sleeping already?” Cale silently asks in his heart.
“James…James babe, where are you?” Cale slowly walks toward his own bedroom.
He hates the silence that surrounds him now.
When he finally reaches his bedroom, Cale slowly turns the doorknob and takes a peek. He finds an empty bed with a turned on computer. It seems like his computer was showing a page.
Cale walks towards the computer, only to find the computer showing a Facebook page. Not any other person's page, it’s his own page.
Near the computer screen, he found a sticky note. It looks like James' hand writing
“I can’t take this anymore. I thought we were committed to each other. I thought you were serious about us. I guess your public appearance is more important to you. I need some time alone to figure this out. If you really love me, then you should know what to do. That’s all I can say. I'm sorry. "

Cale wished he knew what James is talking about in the note, but he doesn’t.
At first he thought James might be mad at him because he spent less of his time with him, but what's the connection between public image and time?
Cale kept thinking about the reason, any reason of why James suddenly left him like this, until his eyes spot something on the Facebook page.
“What the hell?”
Yes. Finally Cale find his answer to all this madness.
Turns out someone had changed his relationship status. He swears he already changed it the night of their marriage.
He knew he caused so much talk about his sudden come out to the public and his marriage, but he doesn’t care about it. People can talk as much as they want because what’s important is James happiness.
That’s why he changed his Facebook status as soon as he could. But it looks like someone got a hold on his account and changed it the other way around.
But the worst part is... James saw it.
He knew how fragile James was about all this. Especially since James knew all his flings during their break up time.
He spent most of his time dating another girl.... Well, lots of girls...
He tried to date boys too but they kept reminding him to James a lot.
Among all of his girlfriends, there's only one girl who's really close to him.....Katy Barber.
They shared so many interests; including their birthday.
Not only him, even his family thought Cale would settle down with Katy. Cale's family was secretly happy that Katy came into Cale’s life. They don’t want to believe that Cale is actually attracted to the guys too.
They prefer to think Cale might just be confused about it.
Well Cale absolutely likes everything about Kate other than the fact that she likes to tweet him all the time.
Cale doesn’t like to be controlled all the time. When he was with James, James never controlled him, but he needs to handle his jealousy all the time.
But once he knew the real reason of James' jealousy, he just needed to play the right key to get James all weak in his knees.

Cale seriously didn’t know what to do right now. So he tried to call James' cell.
“Damn it”, Cale curses to his phone. James already switched off his phone.
His mind kept drifting off to the possibility that James might be with Duncan right now.
Duncan is James' ex boyfriend. He knew about him. They'd spent most of the time fighting about it.
James with his jealousy over Katy and Cale over Duncan.
“But that’s impossible. James would never go back to him. No, he loves you Cale. He would not go back to Duncan ever again,” Cale tries to calm himself down in his mind.
He kept repeating his words in his head. He didn't even realize that he just took out one beer from the fridge and drank it down like he drinks plain water.
After he's done with one bottle, he opens up another one. He keeps doing it until his brain starts to freeze and he can’t help but land his body on the chair.
His hand suddenly switched on the stereo and it started playing a song.
When he heard the intro of the song, he can’t help and started crying his eyes out.
That song means so much to him and James personally.
It’s the song that made them meet with each other for the first time.
*Flashback*
It’s guys night out again, but this time Kris invited several of their friends together like Mark, Sarah, Laura, Adam, Darren and Chris.
Since this was the first time their night out involved girls, Cale as the lady man can’t help but look forward for it. He secretly hoped that at the end of the night he will get at least one of the the girls' phone number.
What he didn’t know was that Sarah and Laura invited James to come hang out that night.
It all started when they played truth or dare.
“My turn”, Cale said while he spun the bottle. And he didn’t know whether he was lucky or not because the bottle landed directly to James.
“Shit” Cale mentally cursed to himself.
“Please not be a dare of making out with a guy”, he mentally said to himself.
“Oh. This is interesting. Truth or Dare, Cale?” Kris asked, clearly a little drunk already.
The girls keep chanting dare. So they go for a dare.
“So here is what you need to do,” Kris said to Cale,
“You and James will go up on the stage, and then sing the song that we choose for you guys.
How’s that sound?”
“Sounds good to me,” Cale let out a nervous laugh, “at least I don’t have to make out with a guy” he mentally added.
Sarah and Laura pushed James so that he would start walking toward the stage with Cale.
He doesn’t have any problem singing in front of people but he had this feeling about the song choice.
When he'd first been introduced to Cale, he didn’t take that much interest.
Yeah, he admits Cale is handsome and stuff... but there's something about Cale that turns him off.
To be honest, he didn’t notice Cale much that night even though he sat directly in front of him and Cale was busy chatting and flirting with the girls all the time.
So he ended up drinking his own drinks or having a little chat with the boys.

As they both finally got onto the stage, the song started to play.
It was a ballad duet called Endless Love; from Barbra Streisand and Lionel Richie.
“You must be kidding,” Cale and James muttered the same word together.
Whether they liked it or not, they needed to do it. Who knows what would be the punishment if they failed to do it.
Plus, it’s only a song, nothing can be harmed with it, right?
So Cale settled with taking Lionel's part and James took Barbra's part.
To be honest, it’s really awkward to sing a duet with another guy.

“Guys, this is a duet song. I want some eye contact or else both of you will be punished,” Sarah shouted from their table.
James let out small sigh and started making a little eye contact with Cale.

That’s when James suddenly felt his heart start pounding faster than usual.
He started to notice how beautiful Cale’s eyes are, how beautiful his facial hair is, his lips, his teeth and... damn it.
Why should this be happening right now?
Cale noticed James was staring at him.
He felt his cheeks starting to burn. He hoped he could just turn his head away, but James' watery eyes kinda attracted him to stare back.
It’s not that James was crying, it’s just that the eyes seemed to show the emotions of the song.

James finally breaks the eyes contact. He feels like this is too much to handle.
So he focused back to the audience and to his friends at their table.

Suddenly James felt like someone touched his chin twisted it to another direction.
He stared back into those damn eyes and it’s looked like Cale pressed out the next line a little deeper like he means what he sings

Cale did the same action again. He pressed out this line too. James just followed what Cale did, while at the same time trying to find something in his eyes.

Cale finally broke the eye contact first. James didn’t even realize when the song ended.
He just realized it when he heard loud applause and some cat calls from the audience.
When they finally decided to end the night,
“Hey James. Can I ask for your number? You..you don’t mind about it, right?” Cale started to stutter which clearly showed he was nervous at that time.
James was dumbstruck when he heard the question. His ears couldn’t be wrong, right?
“uh…sure. Give me your phone and I’ll press it onto your screen.”
Cale pulled out his phone and handed it to James.
After he was done pressing in his number, James handed it back to Cale.
“Cool. I’ll call you .We can hang out some more later on.” Cale carefully asked James.
“Sure. You can call me anytime you want, Cale.”
“Great. I guess this is goodbye for now,” Cale said while looking around, trying to find a sign from Kris.
“Yeah. I guess. Well goodbye Cale, “ James said while stretching his hand out.
Cale did the same and they bid their goodbye to each other.
When Cale was walking back toward his car, he felt slightly different. He was supposed to get one of the girls' numbers but how come he chose James out of it?
He hopes he knows the reason.
“James seems like a nice guy to hang out with. Nothing wrong with hanging out with another guy, right?” Cale mentally said to himself again.
He can’t help it. It’s the only way to stop himself from freaking out too much.

Finally the song comes to an end.
Cale found himself wetting the table with his tears. He started to think maybe he should go out and search for James and explain to him all of this.
So he gets up from his chair to wash his teary face.
Suddenly his phone started to ring.
Cale stops washing his face and quickly runs to answer the phone. The ringtone is not the normal one, it’s different.
There’s only one person whom's call will play out this ringtone.
When Cale finally got a hold of his phone, just like he expected, his phone is showing the name of the person he's been thinking of all this time,
James.
