This is part of a multi-part chapter. To make up for my absence, I have written this chapter extra long. Enjoy.
Over the next few weeks, Hyde became extremely flirtatious, practically flirting with anything and everything with a backbone. From the receptionist, to their publicist, to even Ken and Yuki, everyone felt that Hyde was just a little more interested in everyone else than he normally was. Today, he was chatting up the old lady janitor that worked the early afternoon shift.
“Hey,” Ken began uncomfortably. “Uh, anyone notice that recently Hyde’s been pretty…I dunno what the best word to describe him is, but…flirty?”
“Flirty?” repeated Tetsu as if the word was completely unfamiliar to him.
“Yeah. I mean, look at him. He’s talking to people…”
“Really?”
“Tetsu, I’m surprised that you didn’t pick up on this, but what is the deal with Hyde?”
“I don’t know what you mean.”
“Has he been going home?”
“Most days. Sometimes he’d crash at my place, but he’s been a good husband and going home to his wife and son recently. Why?”
“It seems strange,” Ken shrugged. “A few weeks ago, she looked like she was ready to call it quits and ask for a divorce. But if he’s going home then, I guess there’s no problem. Though I suppose it would be problematic if he went home and all they did was fight. But I guess that’s not the case…it seems really out of character for him to be this…un-Hyde-like.”
“Un-Hyde-like?”
“Yeah. We all know Hyde. He’s pretty private and serious. He doesn’t like to talk to other people. He can be a diva in that sense, but I dunno…he’s acting like you and me put together…He even told me my ass was hot when we were smoking outside of the studio the other day. It’s weird.”
“Hmm…”
“Did you even notice that he’s been calling you Te-cchan and me Ken-chan? He never calls us that when we’re not on stage or on camera. It’s always been Tetsu and Ken, when we’re off stage. It’s like he separates his work from his private life very carefully…Don’t you think so?”
“Hmm…”
“Maybe I’m just looking too deeply into this. Maybe Hyde’s just in a good mood for once and-“
“Te-cchan!” called Hyde running over to where the two old friends were standing. “Did you sign that paper I gave to you?”
“Oh, the Letter of Registered-“
“Yeah, that one.”
“It’s upstairs in the recording studio, why? Want me to go get it?”
“Yeah, wait, I’ll come with you,” Hyde said, following Tetsu.
“I’m going home then, Tetsu. Hyde,” Ken waved. “I gotta get ready for my date. See you guys later then.”
“Night!” Hyde waved back.
As Tetsu and Hyde walked down the quiet corridor, Tetsu turned to Hyde.
“Ken noticed.”
“Really?”
“Yes, he commented that you were more flirty than usual…”
“Ken’s not so dense as he pretends to be…”
“No he’s not,” Tetsu responded as he unlocked the studio door.
“So where’s the paper?” asked Hyde, following Tetsu and turning the deadbolt to lock the door after them.
“In the closet over there. I locked it in there for good measure.”
“Okay, so open it up.”
Tetsu nodded and unlocked the closet. The second he opened the closet, Hyde shoved Tetsu into the narrow room and closed the door behind him.
“Hyde, what the-“ Tetsu’s mouth was cut off by Hyde’s needy lips pressing hard against his own.
“I haven’t been so close to you in a long time,” whispered Hyde, wrapping his arms around Tetsu’s waist to close the space between them. “I’ve missed you…”
“Hyde…” Tetsu breathed, grinding his hips up against Hyde’s.
“I think I’ve finally found the guy she hired,” Hyde said as he trailed kisses along Tetsu’s jaw line.
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
“So what’re you gonna do?” asked Tetsu, sliding his hand into Hyde’s pants.
“Can you meet me on Friday at Isetan for lunch?”
“I have to pack tonight because I’m going to Osaka on tomorrow afternoon to talk to the cameraman you wanted to hire.”
“Oh…I see,” Hyde moaned, as Tetsu unzipped his pants and took him in his mouth.
“How about tomorrow then? I’ll take care of it by tomorrow. We meet for lunch and then you can go straight to the bus stop-Nnnn!!!”
Hyde groaned as he bit down on his lip. He was close and Tetsu was sucking him with so much force that his release was eminent.
“Fine.”
“Isetan! Restaurant floor! Eleven-thrittttyyyyy-Ahhhhh!”
Tetsu gave a few licks to clean up the stray spillage and placed Hyde’s limp cock back in his pants. After he zipped him up, he stood up.
“You go home tonight. It’s late. Megumi’ll get suspicious if you stay too late. I’ll take you tomorrow before I leave,” Tetsu grinned, opening the door and handing Hyde his piece of paper. “Go on. I’ve gotta look at some samples before I leave today. I’ll lock up everything.”
Hyde nodded and watched Tetsu sit down at the table and take out his glasses to inspect the samples that had been sent over.

The next day, at 11:20, Tetsu stood waiting at the elevators the opened on the 15th floor. He saw a bunch of restaurants and wondered which Hyde planned on eating at. He figured there was no way that Hyde would be taking the stairs, so it would make the most sense to wait by the elevators.
At 11:25, the elevator beeps and opens up to reveal none other than Megumi.
“Tetsu?” she said awkwardly.
“Did Hyde call you here too?” Tetsu asked slowly.
“He did. He told me 10:45, but he’s never on time, so I came now. And I was right. He’s not even here.”
This is gonna be one uncomfortable lunch. Hyde owes me big time.
Tetsu looked at his watch. 11:27. To break the awkward silence, he decides to be the bigger person and talk to her.
“Sooo, how have you been?”
“Fine.”
“How’s Rei?”
“He’s okay.”
“Still playing baseball?”
“Yes.”
“…”
This is ridiculous.
“Did Hyde tell you what restaurant?”
“No, inconsiderate as usual.”
“…”
Tetsu looked at his watch. 11:30. There was a sparse number of people strolling about the restaurant area, none of whom bore any resemblance to Hyde unfortunately.
“What would you prefer to eat? Japanese? Western? Italian? Would you mind eating at any of these places?”
“…”
“Do you mind, Megumi?”
“…”
Where the hell is Hyde??!!
“How about I rephrase that, do you care?” asked Tetsu.
“Does it matter?”
“Well, I suppose that if you don’t care then it doesn’t matter…”
“You and your wise ass answers…you always have an answer for everything, don’t you?”
“They tell me it’s a gift.”
PING went the elevator and out stepped a smiling Hyde with a ruffled young Japanese man with him. 11:34.
“Sorry for the wait,” he grinned. “I ran into some trouble on the way here…”
A look of horror crossed Megumi’s face for a brief second when she saw who it was.
“I ran into this boy, whom I caught taking photos of me,” Hyde said, walking into the first restaurant on the left.
“The most expensive one,” Tetsu noted, as they stepped into the Japanese restaurant.
“Can we get a booth for four in your most secluded table?” Hyde asked, sending the hostess a charming smile.
“Certainly,” she said, bowing.
When they had been escorted to the table, she brought them some menus and hot tea.
“Boy, you sit on the inside. Megu, you sit next to him. Tetsu, you can sit on the inside here next to me, and I, will sit opposite of Megu.”
Hyde took a sip of his tea and stared at the young boy critically.
“So, boy. Have you got yourself a name?”
“Tanaka Tarou.”
“You’re kidding, right?”
“No, sir. That’s my name.”
“I see your parents exhibited no creativity when naming you.”
“Actually, I’m Tanaka Tarou the Third.”
“I see, so lack of creativity runs in the family… Well, care to report your findings?”
“What?”
“You said that she hired you right? So report. Isn’t that what I’m paying for? I think I deserve to know where my money is being spent.”
“Uh…”
Hyde raised one eyebrow.
“So, what did my wife hire you to find out?”
“If you were seeing another woman.”
“And am I seeing another woman?” asked Hyde, gazing at the boy like a cat about to pounce on the cornered mouse.
“Well, aside from all the random flirting, the only woman I’ve seen you spend a lot of time with is a woman named Kubota Tomoe.”
When Tetsu heard the name, he tried to stifle a giggle, but he ended up snorting and bursting out laughing.
“Kubota Tomoe?!” said Megumi. “Who is she and what is she to him?!”
“Tell her,” Hyde said.
“She’s uh…a woman…who he often goes to see during the week. He goes to her apartment and brings her flowers. Sometimes he brings his guitar and sings to her.”
“Flowers and singing?!” said Megumi angrily. “You knew about this, Tetsu?!”
“Of course I knew,” he laughed. “I brought them together.”
Megumi looked like she wanted to kill Tetsu.
“Anything else, boy?” asked Hyde.
“Um, no?”
“Kubota Tomoe-I’m gonna kill that woman-“
Tetsu was still laughing when Hyde turned to him.
“All right, Tetsu, you’ve had your fun. Since Detective Tanaka here didn’t do a good job of researching Tomoe-chan, why don’t you educate Megu on who she really is.”
“Kubota Tomoe is Hyde’s friend from middle school. Her brother works in the music industry and we met through a friend of a friend.”
“Well, why is he seeing her then?” snapped Megumi.
“Because I asked him to on the request of her brother.”
“What?!”
“Tomoe-chan really likes Hyde as a musician, but she has lupus. She can’t go out much because she’s always so weak, so Hyde brings her flowers and sings to her.”
“So he’s got something going on with her?”
“No, Megumi. Tomoe-chan isn’t interested in men; she likes women.”
“Oh. You mean she’s…”
“Yes, Tomoe-chan is a lesbian,” explained Tetsu. “So it’s not possible that he’s having an affair with Tomoe-chan.”
“Anything else you’d like to add, boy?”
“Not really.”
“Well, are you satisfied Megu?” asked Hyde.
“Whatever,” she scoffed.
“Well, in the interest of time, I think Tetsu, you have a train to catch. Boy, we’ll pay you for your trouble. I’ll leave it to Megu to settle the bill with you. Megu, I’ll talk to you later. Tetsu, shall we?”
Tetsu stood up and followed Hyde out of the restaurant.
“I’m surprised you handled this so well,” commented Tetsu as they rode the elevator down the massive department store.
“I’m calm and smiley right now, but the shit is gonna hit the fan. I’m actually quite upset, but I don’t wanna say something I’ll regret, so I’ll give Megu a couple of days and talk to her later.”
“I see,” Tetsu said, as they walked down the stairs and into the train station.
Tetsu stopped at one of the lockers and got his suitcase and they walked together down the platform to his car.
“Well, looks like I’ll see you in a couple of days?” said Tetsu, stopping in front of car number nine.
“Guess so. Well, have a safe trip then,” Hyde said.
“Yeah.”
Tetsu lingered for several moments awkwardly.
“Now departing Nozomi #3 to Osaka,” went the announcement.
Tetsu looked at Hyde. He looked to the left and right. The shades were down on the windows of the train. Seeing no one but him and Hyde on the platform, he walked up to Hyde and gave Hyde a quick peck on the cheek.
“Love you,” he whispered into Hyde’s ear before grabbing his suitcase and scrambling onto the train.
Hyde looked around and was relieve when he saw that no one was around at the end of the platform. Thank god for the giant escalator blocking the view to where they were standing.
Tetsu waved to him as the doors swished shut.
*TORURURURU*
“Hello?” Hyde said, taking the call as he waved to Tetsu.
“Hyde, it’s me. I’m back in town.”
“Gackt?”
“Yes?”
