I'm speechless. HE DOES.

And about the whole UK left and US left thing: imagine having a line that looks like this

left-------centre-------right

and shift it so that it's more like this:

left---USleft---centre-------right---------------------------USright

Hope that helps, I'm tired...

Aha, yes that makes sense.

So basically our lefties are a bit more leftie than anything mainstream-hitting of your lot, but when the US head to the right.... woah, boy, there's some right to be headed to there.

Of course the usual problem about classifying politics on one axis is weighing heavy here. But that's a debate for an epic meta-post.

Hmm, and I assumed my first post would be an inquisitive meta-"wherefore art thou previous fandom" post. Ahh, the world - it's not half shifting.

Well, we have some lefties that are as far left as your far lefties, but we just don't really have representation for them since we only have the two main parties... and yea, the right can be so extreme (think Palin) that the Republican Party is now kind of breaking into a two parites (Tea and Republican with Tea being the farthest right).

Hope that helps too!

woops sorry for the semi-thread jump! 67 June 18 2010, 07:34:53 UTC
US far leftie here! /waves

Yeah I'm just gonna add that it's less Republican ------ Tea Party now and more Republican -- Tea Party - Tea is becoming less and less fringe since Fox is backing them.

and re: left: one reason this whole election has been really interesting to watch for me is because some of the things that have gotten an outcry about being So Right-wing! or So Conservative! are like -- so center for us. Like a CONSERVATIVE politician being PRO GAY RIGHTS? Say whaaaat! Not even all of our liberal politicians are pro gay rights.

O_O I see it!

And dayum, I'd jump either of them, so if DCam ages that well... :D

I think you might have something there. It's not just the hairline, also the forehead lines, the eye colour, the cheek colour, the nose a bit...

(He's a big fan of WW, and said he most identified with Bartlet out of all the characters when asked.)

Have literally just bought the whole 7 seasons of this very series to watch for the first time. Heard good things so am looking forward to it.

And yeah, I do think you might just have something there. I also think DCam is getting better looking as he gets older. Maturity suits him. :-)

Oh, you've got such fun in store. *hugs own WW boxset* It was massively educational without being painfully so, though it's quite insanely fast so don't be put off. And as soon as you want without feeling spoilerish, seek out the fic, because there's lots. :)

(If you want recs... *dangles fic folder*)

The boxset is what we bought, Amazon had a really good offer, think we got the lot for around £35. I'm not sure when we'll watch it, might be our autumn/winter viewing when there's nothing else on. Our last one was Buffy, which we'd seen 4 seasons of but not the rest. Was a *wonderful* marathon. *Giles* love. :-)

*G* I shall try to remember, when the time comes, that you were the one dangling your fic folder in front of me. I have no doubt I shall want it - I just *know* this is my kind of TV.

Hmm, interesting! Either way, we'll have to avidly chart DCam's ageing over the next few years. With lots of pictures ;)
