[Mulder has more or less settled into an apartment with the things he's found so far from the shops... but that's not where he is at the moment. Too restless to hang around, and convinced he can figure something out, he's gone out on a trip to take a look at the barrier. He's even equipped himself with some camping gear he managed to find and ( Read more... )

[Mulder isn't sure whether to be relieved or more worried about how familiar this guy seems with those names. But if it means that maybe, just maybe he's on the right track theorizing that Samanatha was brought here...]

Yeah, that's right... Have you met either of them here in Luceti?

Oh man I wish it would've been so awesome if they were here too! [WAIT OOPS. THAT SHOULD PROBABLY HAVE HAPPENED IN HIS INSIDE VOICE.]

Uh-- I probably shouldn't have said that just now.

You're saying it would be awesome if they were imprisoned as test subjects? Am I missing something?

[Mulder intuition says SOMETHING IS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS about this.]

I figure it can't hurt, what with the evil robots and giant man-eating wolves and so on.

Have you successfully contacted any of the spirits?

The actual magic stuff isn't really my thing of choice, to be honest.

I guess with abilities like yours, you might not need it as much?

I've heard the healing spirit is the easiest to contact, but I've not attempted it myself.

Nala, right? I would think her powers would come in pretty handy, considering this place.

Yes, I believe that's her name. There are several doctors of the normal persuasion here, but also some healers who have learned from her. You can find them at the clinic most likely.

The others are more elusive, but spending time around their preferred elements seems to increase your chance of meeting them.

That seems to make a lot of sense. Although I'm hoping that doesn't mean "set yourself literally on fire" to contact the fire-spirit.

Nala is supposed to be the easiest to contact, for those who aren't naturally adept at magic.

Personally, I've always been better at contacting Kipinn. It depends a great deal on your own personality.

I'm hearing Nala come up a lot, so I might make her the first one I try and have a close encounter with. I'm hoping that my experience and knowledge will make up for what I lack in natural ability.

Nala does come up a lot. She's the spirit most willing to listen to anyone who will try and make contact, and the one who can be contacted from virtually anywhere. Some of the other spirits - Sona, Kinku, and Hyt - have their own preferences and can take weeks at a time to contact for the first time.

Some of them won't teach certain people at all.

Nala isn't quite so...restrictive. She's happy to teach anyone, and as far as I know snyone can at least master the basics of healing magic.

Sounds like I'd better make sure my attention span is in top form when I start trying this out.

I'm sure that healing magic would be very beneficial, from what I gather about life in this enclosure.

I, personally, been havin' some trouble contacting them spirits. Prolly cause I ain't patient or nothin', but you'd think bringing some snacks along with you would make the job a lil' easier. I mean, what kind of spirit don't want a lil'snack before all the teachin' happens?

What kind of snacks are you bringing? You might want to be careful- if the spirit is more of a Doritos fan and you're tossing it a bag of Cheetos, you might just be out of luck.

...I can't blame you for wanting to appeal to them in some way, though. It sounds like there's no specific set method for getting their attention.

I ain't ever thought to ask them what they'd prefer. Damn, I prolly ruined it for me. [he's just going along with the joke, honestly] I just don't want to sit an' wait for one of 'em to contact me.

People are very picky about their favorite junk food, so I'm sure spirits are no different. [Laughs a little.] ...But in all seriousness, from what I'm told it is a bit of a challenge to make contact with many of them. You just have to be incredibly patient.
